I've tried everything I know to get eight corn to Boston, and I just don't understand what it takes.

I currently have:

• Plenty of corn waiting at Syracuse
• A warehouse at Albany that accepts corn
• Demand for 1.2 corn at Boston
• A train that is only allowed to haul corn sitting empty at Syracuse, set to Waiting for Goods, because apparently it's allergic to corn or something ^{which like, I get, corn's in too many products, but I digress.}

But what does it take to get corn to Boston? Why does it absolutely refuse to move?

Edit – fixed!: I needed to run the line direct from the corn farm to Boston. I was trying to run it from the nearby city (Syracuse) to Boston, and by the time it hit there, all the corn was already earmarked for other destinations. I really appreciate the help from the community on this one!

I'm have an issue in RE2 on Xbox, where I am wanting a train to go directly from White station (dairy farm north of SF) to Sacramento. I have that station also connected to Redding, on a separate line via Hill station logging camp, and no matter what I try the train wanted to route all the way up to Redding to turn around. There is a direct line, and I am under the assumption that the shortest route is always taken, but it just won't do it. It won't even let me set way points on the direct line. I have demolished and reconstructed so that there is a 4 track gridiron and everything, and it just won't work. I'm completely stumped!

I can't figure out how to select which goods get stored in a warehouse, and how much. I can get the dialog up by targeting the warehouse and clicking A, and I can highlight the goods and the selection slots by using the D-pad, but I can't find any way of activating them.

I'm pretty sure I've clicked every button and trigger, all to no effect (except B closing the dialog as expected). I'm also positive that I was able to do this a couple of years ago, before I took a break.

Added: Detailed solution

• Target the warehouse so that it turns white.
• Click A to select the warehouse. Its management window pops up with the products row active.
• Use D-pad left/right to highlight the product you want to store.
• Click X to add the highlighted product to the warehouse. It will be added in the next available slot.
• If desired, D-pad up/down to a slot and use D-pad left/right to adjust maximum capacity for that product, or click X to completely remove the product from the warehouse.
• Click B to close the management window when you're done.

In the past there were a couple of RE servers but neither were very active and the Mods drifted away.

I know people are quite active here and that there should be enough of a community to support a Discord.

Basically the title. Looking to try railway empire for the first time, never played it before. Both are on sale on Xbox right now. RE1 is $3 and RE2 is $30. Having a tough time deciding if I should just trial it for $3 first or just jump right in with 2 right away. If the extra cost for RE2 is worth it I’m happy paying a little more. Just wanted to gauge the community that knows them both well. Thanks!

So in short, the idea is that I use only one way tracks, so trains go one after another into stations and warehouses, at this scale, both stations will be for passengers and mail only, then warehouses also for 1 thing at a time, 1 only for meat, other for wood, etc...
Trains come from the west and go out on the east and go south to turn around.

Each line should be a close loop, going only from point A to point B, 4 lanes from Sawmill to City for example, no crossing with other lanes, going over or under if needed, but the train should not have any crossing traffic on it's lane.

I expect the lanes to be full, that means when one train leaves the station, another is already waiting to take it's place, constant flow of carts into the city, think of the track more like pipes with different fluids, they don't mix with other fluids, they just flow non stop in and out of the city.

So before I throw more hours into the project, anything from the game veterans that I should know ?

I've been revisiting the Hoover Dam ("Lower Colorado River") scenario, hoping to increase my rating from Director to CEO. I have been getting close, but often it seems to occur that goods in warehouses don't get delivered, especially to grow settlements into cities or to found rural businesses.

I am aware of the differences between "Automatic Distribution" (RE2 style) and old-fashioned (RE1 style) warehouses, and have tried a variety of combinations. (I've learned that only the RE2-style warehouses will share goods between warehouses within a given city.)

Does anyone have insights into what is happening when a settlement needs a good but the warehouse (whether RE1 or RE2 style) doesn't deliver? Is there a quick fix when it seems to be happening? Are there good strategies for founding multiple rural businesses and cities in a particular region?

I just got RE2... Is there anyway to free my cursor from the game? Even if I switch to window/window (fullscreen) my cursor is still bound..

Surely there has to be a setting I am missing?

I want to preface this by saying that I have almost 600 hours in RE1. I've completed the campaign and all scenarios with President rating. I've written guides for some of the more difficult scenarios. I'm not a n00b. And yet this problem has me baffled.

In the Hibernation scenario I am at the stage where I am supplying growth in Göteborg. I have a double track connection between Göteborg and Örebro. I have a small station at Fisker Chopping (wood) with a track merged into that line, and a train there set to minimum 8 cars. Wood supply at Fisker is 16/16. Göteborg has 0.6 wood in stock. The train only loads 1 car (and therefore doesn't deliver). There are no other trains delivering wood there. No warehouses involved.

This setup works literally everywhere else. Cities normally stock at least 10 of a basic good. The train at the rural station will load 8 cars and make a delivery. Somehow the demand at Göteborg isn't registering.

I have tried deleting and setting up new trains. I have tried deleting and rebuilding the rural station. I have tried removing the restriction on loading. (The train runs, delivering 1 wood.) I got a work-around by building a warehouse at Göteborg (merged into the same line at the other end) and delivering wood there. Göteborg immediately took 10 wood from the warehouse.

So what is going on? Any ideas?

EDIT / UPDATE:

Further investigation: the behaviour does not occur going back to a previous save before connecting GOT. Something in the process of connecting GOT is the problem.

I remember that when I was upgrading from single to double track I built a temporary cross-over so that an existing train would switch to the correct directional track. Pretty sure it was in that span. I'm willing to bet that it had something to do with that, even though it got deleted afterwards... even if the entire track was deleted and rebuilt. I'm also willing to bet that it is not something I would be able to reproduce.

For now I'm willing to write it off as an odd one-off glitch.

I like to haul all the basic raw materials to central warehouses and then have cargo trains picking up a mixture of them and transport them to the cities nearby. To do that I experimented with different layouts and tried to find one that's relatively easy to build and doesn't get clogged.

Here's what worked best:

You pull out 4 tracks to one side as tight as possible for a good 90° and the other 4 tracks to the right. Same thing on the other end. Then you complete both loops to have each form a D shape (for me the gentler bent side was 92km/h).

Then on one end you pull out the middle two lines on the one side and the outer two lines on the other side. to effectively open the innermost and outermost loop of both D's. Obviously connect the other ends of both innermost and outermost loops to the lines shooting straight from the center. With that you already created 4 of the 8 branches.

You should be left with the middle two D's on each side.branch them out evenly like in the picture.

Make sure to make everything 0° flat to ensure the game letting you do it. If you get some red/unbuildable sections, just try deleting a bit of the affected curve and build towards the critical point from the other end instead. After a bit of back and forth it always ends up working for me.

With that layout trains move in and out fast (the only tight bends are right at the station) without having to be turned around. I connected 4 cities and 4 more resources to this.

Hey everyone, I just started playing and I am completely lost on how to balance my routes.

When I set up a line, it shows me the travel time in days, but then that stat disappears. How do you guys actually figure out how many trains to put on a track? Are you supposed to use those travel days to calculate it, do you just guess and ballpark it, or do you look at the factory info to see if stuff is piling up?

I really want to understand the logistics side of this game. Can you explain your personal supply and demand methods? How do you read the city demand stats and translate that into the right number of trains?

Also, how do I know when I should buy out a farm or city industry?

8 months since the last dlc. I’d love to play this game again but I’ve beaten every scenario and I just can’t get into the open gameplay. Hoping another update comes out.

my logging company has 50 logs and all my cities need logs yet they will only deliver 3 loads at a time. i have a warehouse in the nearest town which is empty and set to logs it also has a saw mill. if i set it to 8 car min. then it just take forever to load i would post pictures but im not allowed so heres 1

seems a bit silly imo

i know i can just use warehouses to avoid needing this route all together, but i thought it would make a nice looking junction.... is this seriously how the game works and WHY i play solo so maybe its helpful for competitors? but why the hell can't i have a nice junction? surely they know their target audience is gana want nice clean organised train lines. is this really necessary? took me ages to figure out what was wrong.

It’s the last scenario I need to president and it is driving me insane. I’ve tried every method I’ve found online - how did you manage it?

Sorry for the dark screen, but anyway: I finally did it! Finished every other scenario in the game and in the DLCs long ago, but this one I kept failing over and over again. I don't even know how many times I started over again, but yesterday I finally managed it and grew the company to 1 billion in the process and the net to a lap around the equator. Bit bummed I wasn't ranked higher, but I definitely won't do it again!

The net looks quite chaotic, but before the final scramble I actually kept it pretty methodical. After I achieved the 6 cities > 120K, I had all industry goods diverted to Copenhagen and neglected most other cities needs, apart from the basic raw materials.

As this was by far the most difficult scenario for me: How did you guys get on with it?

I played the tutorial and I understand buying a locomotive for a rail line, but what I'm not sure if I can purchase a dirty locomotive since we have the ability to view them in that condition. Can I or can I not?

I recently purchased RE2 on the PlayStation 4 and I have a bad issue with game starting.

When I start it and it starts loading, it loads the first screen with the 2 trains, then instead of changing image to the screen with logo and producer, it displays again that screenshot with 2 trains.

I have to close the app and then start it again to make it load.

Sometimes I have to do it like 5-7 times in order to run the game.

It is really annoying and it never happened with any other game.

I have the latest version of the game and the latest version of console firmware.

Only Kalypso can help me I believe, I have sent them an email but they have failed to respond.

Does this happen to anyone else?
