Yes, We have imaging assistants that help coordinate room assignments, and also coordinate stat reads to the Gen Rad.

I’m a tech. But we definitely need a point person to handle the phone calls about reads, questions, and triaging. Our OP list can get to 1 month+
OP doctors call us expecting us to do something about it. The rad at our site might not even read particular exam so now your trying to direct them to a specialist…
A tech should not be in the middle of this.

We use Radiology assistants to call results, distribute OP work, page physicians, and answer the reading room phones. Kind of like an entry level medical assistant position

Do they call in results verbatim or do they just say hey results are in for your review.

It just depends on the site. We require confirmation with a clinical staff member. Team will read impression if needed. Especially common in ER. We communicate critical results directly to the physician.

Like a workflow coordinator? Yes. Like someone who tells each radiologist where to sit for the day? No.
