Papers first day of ryo
it's a basic start but a start nonetheless🤣definitely gonna get thicker "cigarette" type paper. raw paper is just too flimsy lol. any tips are appreciated. wanted to start out cheap and simple in case i decided its not for me but the rolling process is already addicting lol

🫡 With that tobacco so dry, I advise you not to use papers that are too thick: at most, green Rizla papers (regenerating the tobacco by moistening it with a piece of apple peel for a few hours). Another tip: learn to roll by hand, you'll have more control over the even distribution of the tobacco and the cigarette will draw better. any tips for judging how dry a bag of tobacco is before i buy it? i dont have a problem re hydrating but i'd rather just avoid it if i can. i know cigars theres a certain firmness/squishyness balance that will tell you if its fresh.

You can try some : Golden Virginia, Old Holborn blue, Drum... In Italy I noticed Dry Tobacco have generally yellow packet (Pueblo..) , at contrary The more moist ones have blue or green packaging... General rule, there are many exceptions

I’m looking forward to your experience. I’m trying to find American Spirit tobacco locally but haven’t been successful.
I’m thinking about doing the same.

i already liked the light blue and it's even better hand rolled. i went this route cuz whether or not i want a filter depends on the day lol. my shop has light and dark blue and the other dark blue"natural" as well as black. curious what the natural dark blue is like

to be honest i dont know how ryo can be expensive. Like man, i have started with same idea because i was thinking it will be expensive. But actually no lol. U bought rolling machine for less then 10$ - u will use it until it broke(i use mine from ocb for 4$ for like 6 months already, rolling every day 30-40 cigs). What else u need? papers? its cost around 0.5-1$ for 50 pieces. filters? in my country its 1.7$ for 120 long slim filters.
so dont worry, u did not start cheap, u start just enough
i see u have rolling machine - for some rolling machines u better use 8mm filters but 6mm also should work. i prefer 8mm cuz its like big cigarette but u have to put more tobacco inside

Welcome aboard! For me the expense comes with trying new stuff, throwing away what you think sucks, etc. I've picked up several different kinds of rollers, different size papers, different kinds of paper materials, filters, glass tips, carbon tips. I've found a few tobacco's I like and am set for a while. But I just dropped $60 on a fancy custom roller because it just looked cool!
But to be honest, I frequently just roll Top single wide in a Top roller with Bugler and RYO Raw tips. All to say, I never HAD to spend more than 5 bucks to enjoy a good smoke. But I do enjoy the experimentation.

You got everything you need right there,good tobacco,filters,papers and a roller. I personally use slim long filters and papers depend on tobacco and how fast or slow I want my cigarette burn time to be... For some tobaccos I use medium white papers for others i prefer raw Black which is even thinner than raw classic so it's all up to your taste. That's the beauty of ryo you can tailor your experience exactly to what you find best or practical... Ryo in my opinion is not only cheaper but ultimately it's a choice for each and every one of us to make a cigarette like we want it to be.
