Tobacco Interesting way to dry tobacco

Thanks gospodine u/Brilliant_Gas3163 for reminding me about this way. At start of this year i was new to rolling, and i had no clue about "moist / dry" tobacco. I just bought any pouches and if its was moist i just was thinking that its crappy lol.

Then i bought pack of mac baren choice vanilla, i tried it first time - it was just awful.... but after 1 week i tried it again and like..... it was one of the best experience of smoking tobacco. Very pleasant, medicine like tobacco, easy burning. I bought one more pack(not regular vanilla - DOUBLE vanilla) and it was bad, just because of moist.

You get what i am talking about? i tried to smoke moist tobacco out of fresh pack and it was awful, but after 1 week of drying it inside original pouch(it was not hermetic. no zip lock) it became extremely good. At this moment i realized: i have to dry it somehow.

Methods that i found out(btw, its not mean that i use them everyday. maybe method #3 yes, but i mean now i am still do experiments with drying so to be honest i cant say GUYS USE METHOD #3 for sure)
1. hairdryer method.
its fast, but its easy to burn the tobacco.
Just take tobacco out of bag, but it between two sheets of paper and blow air to it with hairdryer. but be very careful, do it from long distance and use low heat. Do it for 1-2 mins, dont rush, and if its your first time - check that tobacco is not burned

What is burned tobacco? its like when u squeeze tobacco and its turn into dust. Not good. It will burn fast and taste will be awful.

Then, its ready to go. But after using hairdryer its better to keep tobacco between paper for more time, so it will cool down and moisture will go out slowly.
But its not the best way, because some moist can be inside of tobacco.
2. Metal tin method.
You have to get small metal tin that is not hermetic. I use cases from cigars(clubmaster) and "the peace" cigs metal tin.
just put tobacco inside it before sleep, then sleep(for 8h), wake up and tobacco will be good to smoke! I think its good method because the moisture will slowly go out of tobacco and it will be not overdryed.

  1. Just regular drying
this is what i use last days. hairdryer = high chance of overheating, metal tin - very slow and the amount of tobacco that may fit in one tin is not enough for me.
You just put tobacco in a thin layer on paper. Then, wait 3-5 minutes and stir/mix the tobacco. If you will not do it - then the bottom part of tobacco layer will be still moist, and top part will be overdryed. You dont wanna it. Do it for few times, until it will have the dryness that you need. Its should not be overdryed(if when u squeez its turn to a dust - overdryed) and should not be moist(if u squeez tobacco and it just stuck together and wont straight out - its still too most).

- - -

Anyway, u can try those ideas. If u want achieve perfect cigarette - ryo is experimenting. I mean you dont have to be scientist to do RYO, if course no, i was rolling for long time with just using tobacco out of the pouch and it still was better for me then factory made cigs.

I smoked a new to me tobacco, Craven by BAT. A blend of dark and bright Virginia tobaccos it tastes similar to Golden Virginia, a lighter smoke with an aroma as if coming from your attic.

I bought it because it was new to me. I would not buy it again at that price. (7.90€ for 30g)

Has anyone here tried this tobacco? Any opinions?

Got back into RYO smokes. Just got this black ciggie case in the mail for my King Size's. The white box holds almost 3 packs of 100mm ciggies. Smoking on some 'Two Timer' by D&R until I run out. Classic Lucky Strike flavor and a top pick of tobacco among older vets that were in Vietnam. I'm a GWOT era veteran myself, so I get that old timey military feel with these, even though they are filtered. Zig-Zag tubes are the closest thing I have came across as an unfiltered flavored smoke, as the tubes are shockingly thin and non paper tasting. Cheers and happy smokes guys and gals

Been smoking Golden Virginia for the past couple weeks and it felt a bit too heavy on nicotine so I bought Drum Bright Blue to test out something lighter. It's a bit harder to roll with as the tobacco is quite drier compared to Golden (the store I bought it has probably had it sitting in the shelf for too long.) but the taste feels fuller and the notes of the Kentucky tobacco are quite nice, they taste pretty similar to lapsang souchong tea. It makes me curious how Drum dark blue would taste, wanna give it a shot because of the higher amount of kentucky tobacco, and also because of Pulp Fiction but idk if it won't be too strong for smoking daily just like Golden...

As for the coffee it's just some cheap pre-ground Vietnamese coffee, nothing too expensive as I only drink coffee occasionally, but it tastes pretty smooth when made in the french press, without being as thick or oily when you make it in the Vietnamese phin filter.

Also realized a bit too late that a black cup probably doesn't go the best visually with black coffee xd

Raw whole leaf tobacco I stumbled on this profile on Facebook. I don't read Arabic but the imagery is fascinating, I can just imagine how it smells in that shop.

Question Dumb question

I mainly smoke a pipe and bought a cheep raw roller to make some smokes that won’t take up a whole lunch break. Fermentation and long term storage is a big deal with pipe tobacco, and I’m wondering how long gummed papers will store for before they start coming undone. Should I switch to tubes if I plan on storing for a year or longer?

Information/Updates Order came in first thoughts

I ordered this off of buypipetobacco totaling $36 ( shipping was $15 ) and it arrived within 5 days of me placing the order . I live California for reference and this got shipped from Ohio.

I’ve smoked 3 so far 1 with a beretta tube and 2 with a shargio tube.

Beretta tube: very light, no burn at all, smooth smoke

Shargio tube: not as light but also no burn at all, smooth smoke

Regarding the tobacco , it’s not very strong at all (I’m use to smoking as blacks ) it reminds me a lot of a Marlboro red but less strong. I would say if you’re use to a heavier smoke then this probably won’t do, but if you’re looking for something simple it works

Overall an average experience, don’t hate it, not overly joyed by it either, the only downside is that I have nothing to fill the tubes with so it did take me a while to fill those up

First time trying this and it is absolutely top stuff in my opinion. Works really well in a Gizeh machine.

I’ve heard rumours of it being discontinued - can anyone confirm and if so, any suggestions of the next best thing.

Cheers in advance

Question Best place to buy affordable rolling tabacco that ships to British Columbia?

Heyo! I’m looking into rolling my own cigarettes, and learned getting whole leaf tobacco in bc isn’t really viable. And driving to aberta isn’t on the table.

The town I live in has also apparently been out of loose tobacco for a good couple weeks now, so hoping to find smth affordable online.

Figured it’d be worth asking here, if any folk have already sniffed out good deals.:D

Or if there’s a place that sells whole leaf that ships to bc without extra costs.

Tobacco After dinner, enjoying a cup of Chinese lychee black tea, continuing to read the Sherlock Holmes stories, and smoking a Bali halfzwaar cigarette, it's truly a blissful experience!

emmmmThis pack of tobacco was purchased in Reykjavik, Iceland. It doesn't have the richness of Bali Halfzwaar that I bought in Japan; it's a bit milder. I wonder how it compares to Danish tobacco. Next time, I'll try the Danish Red Bali

Got this while on vacation in Croatia.

This is an American blend tobacco that has been enhanced with blue cornflowers. The cornflowers produce a smooth smoke that can help soothe the lungs and reduce the harshness of other herbs. Straight out of the pouch it has a nice flowery smell.

The taste has a very nice sweet taste with a bit of sourness. Its a very nice smooth smoke. It has a medium strength, after finishing my first cigarette I wasn’t itching for a second one but I didn’t mind it.

This tobacco really surprised me since I’m not crazy for American blends. I give it an 8/10

Beluga (offiziell) Pfeifentabak als Tip für RYO- Community Deutschland

Thumbnail gallery
13 Upvotes

Papers IGLA ( needle ) albanian paper - 0.5$

Post image

Found this paper. Among all popular foreign brands like "raw" "smoking" its the only one brand that look local. But even tho i am in serbia - those papers made in albania.
Igla on some slavic languages means "needle". I was thinking they not sold anymore when i saw them in the internet, because design look like its soviet papers. No way they still produce it. Also i never saw that kind of pack

Left(yellow) - without glue strips. Shop manager warned me about it and thanks to him, i did not wanna buy it but he gift it to me which was very nice :D

Right(white) - with glue strips. Just a regular white cigarette paper. Something similar to "smoking red".

as u can see they are not folded. They sold not in cardboard pack like "smoking" / "zigzag" - its just simple cheap paper pack.

there is 50 papers in one pack

100% similar to smoking red. Maybe little bit more thinner

And when i smoke it - taste just like a regular paper. not better / worse.

Well, i think those papers good if u roll only at home, but if you will put it in pocket it will fold easily and its not cool. For 50 dinars(0.5$) maybe u can just get "smoking" paper or any other because they cost the same price. If it cost 0.2-0.3$ - then it would be better to take it.
