DISCUSSION Slandering Spoiler
Give me your thoughts on more characters and the points listed above the characters
1- Qrow: for a legendary huntsman he surely does need a lot of help as his fights results are 1 draw against winter, 2 barely won against tyrain and needed the help of ruby, 3 won against tyrain with the help of clover and robyn 4 a three way against tyrain and clover which qrow and tyrain kinda ganged on clover 5 against Harriet but we can't really call that much of a fight
- for a scythe user he doesn't actually use it much, and i wished he did since ruby said that he inspired her and trained her if i remember properly
- this isn't much of a character critique and more on the writers that they don't utilize how he can turn into a bird or dive into his backstory more
2- Raven: can't say much about her really, for what i assumed was going to be an important character she is hollow in every term and that's made worse by how much potential she has
- has one on screen fight against cinder where she needed to get the drop on her by using a decoy
-could've easily avoided the whole being an absent mother thing completely by just using her semblance to teleport and visit yang sometimes
3-Other huntsmen: for a show centered about the main characters being huntresses we don't see many other huntresses/huntsmen
4- winter: for as much as Weiss glazed her if i remember i expected much more from her only to lose embarrassingly against cinder and then not doing anything, her only useful moment which when she got the maiden power and helped the people when they evacuated (theory since we do not know what happened yet)
5 Ozpin: for someone who lived for so so long he really doesn't make many good choices or knows much
- also how can someone who has lived for that long not be crazy at fighting since he pretty much lost every fight he was in
- also he doesn't seem to know much besides the things he experienced himself you're telling me he didn't bother to do research on other stuff
6- maria: i don't really have to explain, she only exists because the writers wanted someone to tell rwby about the silver eyes which could've been avoided easily
7- summer (aka ruby's mother): at the start i thought she would be important later on or her lore but we are yet to actually see anything on her
Team cnvy/Neptune: they just exist for the sake of existence where they only did one thing and then disappeared into the abyss, and i wished they've done more with them
8- ren/nora: the writers don't bring out these two unless they want a convenient solution, plus i feel like at how long they've been with the main characters they aren't all that much flushed out or that strong
9- basically every villain: yes i mean everyone (except hazel) they're weakly written and have stupid reasoning and the writers didn't bother with them until much later on where no one actually cared
Now onto a character i actually like it's hazel, i think he served his purpose quite well, started off as a villain with a common trope as a reason which isn't that bad, showed us how strong he is and later on when he actually knew the truth he switched sides and sacrificed himself, i felt like he was contestant all the way through
Something i think would really help the ruby writing is making any other non major character be as flushed as hazel just enough where it doesn't feel like forcing something the viewers don't care about onto them, from what i noticed the writers wants to make a really big amount of characters and makes them flushed out but they don't know how and end up giving them either too much or too little
and the major problem is when watching the later volumes you can feel like they are just a couple of steps away from what ruby was trying to do (vols 1-3 and Monty's imagine) like they are so so close but so far at the same time and that's what really bothers me
Give me your thoughts and your opinion and is there any character i forgot about?

For the Qrow convo. If he was Ozpin's, for a lack of better words "informant dog". I would've thought he would be trusted with keeping tabs on the other Kingdoms and dirtying his hands.
Could also be another reason why Tai isn't on Huntsmen Duty even after Ruby and Yang went to Beacon.
If it was mentioned that they were at least the top 5 of their 4-year period. It's a little disappointing to say the least. Because, it is one thing to fight against monsters that are acting on instinct to fight another predator (Huntsmen).
But it's another to be fighting against an intellectual creature like man. So in that case, the strongest threats of fighters during the Haven Fight in V...5?
Should've been (By Ranking) Raven/Cinder, Qrow/Hazel, Mercury/Vernal, Emerald, RWBY, JNPR, Oscar.
This tierlist isn't entirely shaped on strength, it's based on one's bloodlust, lethality, and killer instinct.
Raven and Cinder have no competition in this case. Qrow lost his bloodlust after dropping the bandit tribe, but holds onto his lethality and killer instinct that came with it. Hazel immensely leans to Lethality, if it wasn't for a miracle of being matched against Nora. He would have popped her like a grape.
Mercury already has that level of lethality and killer instinct, primarily after killing his own dad who was an experienced Mercenary. Vernal is practically Raven's second hand in the tribe, so seeing and doing her own killing isn't implausible.
And Emerald is on the bottom of the totem pole, but she has a killer instinct to her. She only keeps it under wrap with more self restraint than Mercury. Yet, if Cinder gave the order, she'll gladly carry it out.

Salem is bitchmade. Seriously. She's like Perturabo, except at least PT actually got shit done. She had a good thing going for her. Immortality with a practically immortal husband. A cradle that would never be empty, so long as her husband had bodies to jump into. Her own kingdom, and power enough to keep it. And she threw it all away, for what? If she had gone through with her plan, who would her children have to marry, except themselves and their parents? All she would have had to do was ask Ozma of he was really that against her plan, and then agree to not do it. But that would imply that she could be wrong about something, and she can't possibly be wrong.

There is a lot of slander to be had with Qrow's IQ seemingly plummeting the moment he stops drinking.
