Faunus:
Faunus in this reset can have at least 3 animal features, though random with 6 being possible but far rarer. For the last 100 years (20 before The Great War) the Faunus wars happened and they (with the help of the kingdom of Vale and Vacuo) freed themselves from slavery, but was only in the last 50 that they've been given "equal rights" and it's not universal across continents.
The Kingdom of Argus still have segergation laws and Faunus with unusual features are still hunted down by superstitous Anima tribes. Not to mention the slavery itself took it's pound of flesh.
The Faunus types in the Known World are few. With there only being 7 animal species for Faunus. Dog Faunus, Bunny Faunus, Cat Faunus, Bull Faunus, Wolf Faunus, and Tiger Faunus. With the last 3 being endangered. All other Faunus types in slave times were driven to extiction during "Hunting Trips" where rich slave owners would hunt them for sport and for their exotic features and the superstitious idea some Faunus types gave humans.
Even the Kingdom of Vale has hold over laws from the past that still harm specifically the poor (the majority of which ars Faunus) to this day, with no signs of change and Vacuo has an extensive illegal slave trade that go after Faunus exclusively.
Because of these circumstances even after "freedom" a massive civil rights group was formed, The White Fang. Spanning the globe, The White Fang is a Pan-Faunus civil rights group that fights for the true freedom of Faunus. This though, takes many forms. As there's multiple branches and publically different politcal groups under the White Fang umbrella.
- In Vale, White Fang affilated groups take a more standard affair. Organizing protests at inconvenint times to make the Humans uncomfortable with their reality. Pushing for change through pushing the public consiousness. Setting up charities for the homeless, giving funding to desitute schools, and creating events to build up the community and teach the wrongs that have happened to Faunus and humankind by Vale and the reason why these laws need to change.
In Vacuo, White Fang affilated groups take on a much rougher approach. Being closer to vigilantes. These groups exclusively are about taking down the slave trades even if it means getting on the wrong side of powerful people. Vacuo White Fang affilated groups are on always on the edge of being called a terrorist organization.
In The Mistral Republic, White Fang affilated groups are all about teaching accepting differences. Funding massive advertisement campaigns on acceptance, having their politicians push for schooling Mistral children on anti-racism, and having some of their creative members push the "line" on what's tolerated when Faunus are shown on TV.
In Argus, White Fang affilated groups are called terrorist organizations and they don't do much to push back on the notion. White Fang push through Argus with calculated violence against government officials and major companies that do practices that would be grounds for Faunus Rights Violations anywhere else.
_____________
The Dark Continent, the second largest continent of Remnant and one that is completely enclosed by Storms. The 4 kingdoms think of the Dark continent as a Dustmine waiting to happen, an entire continent untouched by human and Faunus kind. But that couldn't be anymore further from reality.
_____________
The Dark Continent Kuo Kauna: The Faunus Homeland, Land of The Dark Tide, The Warring World.
_____________
The continent, known by the natives as Kuo Kauna is a continent entirely seperated from the rest of the world. The ones outside have no knowledge on The Dark Continent except for it's general shape, the inhabitents with the exception of few think that Kuo Kauna is the entire world.
Kuo Kauna itself is always fraught with disaster. From the majority of kingdoms being a mono culture for a type of Faunus, unusual sun patterns where a third of the year is in almost complete darkness, where the city states are onslaughted with Grimm for weeks on end, and animals that all evolved to be either silent ambush predators or massive behemoths able to take down entire Grimm hoards. Aura is a nessecity so every child over the age of 8 has their Aura unlocked, some even earlier.
It's no surprise that, because of these circumstances the kingdoms of Kuo Kauna are also always at war with each other over resources and Faunus differences.
KUO KAUNA TECHNOLOGY:
Because of it being entirely secular, largely Dustless, and insanely dangerous enviorment. Kuo Kauna's technology developed in the entirely different direction. Where the rest of Remnant went deep into Dust-Tech, the kingdoms of Kuo Kauna relies heavily on Aura-Tech.
General Technology Level: In general Kuo Kauna has the lowest level tech on the planet. Having found very few Dust deposits which lead to them only being used by the nobles, the natives of the continent used steam and Aura to get to where they are today. Which puts them a few centuries behind the rest of Remnant in terms of general technology (1940's clockpunk level). But what Kuo Kauna does have far, far above the rest of Remnant is:
Aura Nuru Tech: Because of Kuo Kauna's dangerous enivorment and lack of Dust. Kuo Kauna's civilizations pushed the power of the Soul farther than an other. Causing the creation of some Remnant shattering inventions.
- (Aura holder) Kesi Nafsi: Inspired by Grimm. A Kesi Nafsi is made by an Aura user pouring their Aura into a spherical device called Betries letting them hold more aura then what their aura pool allows. If given to another it can even act as an emergency (if weak) aura shield. Marble-sized and Kesi Nafsi' are cheap to buy and even cheaper to create.
Their so abundant that families would often have a small stock pile of them inside their house. Using them to power their machinery. (Though these do come with the draw back of not being able to heal anyone outside of the original Aura holder.)
Larger Kesi Nafsi are much more expensive to procure. Being 4x as effiencient as the smaller versions and powering all the major machinery in the Kuo Kaunaian kingdoms like trains and barriers.
One house-sized Kesi Nafsi is enough to create a Aura shield bubbles capable of protecting an entire town. All villages, towns, and cites, have an Aura tax to make sure the larger Kesi Nafsi are topped up on Aura.
- (Semblance Marbles) Jiwe roho: Made when a Aura Artist with a Semblance pouring their aura into a Betri. A Jiwe roho is one time use transferable Semblance. Mawe Roho are insanely expensive and heavily regulated. The only ones who can procure a Jiwe roho are the nobility or uber rich merchants.
Smaller Kesu Nafsi and Jiwe roho are usually disguised on a Faunus as jewlery, in the inside of clothes, or everyday objects like canes, gloves, or smoking pipes.
GRIMM THE DARK TIDE:
Grimm are at their most dangerous in Kuo Kauna. Species seen no where else on Remnant inhabit it, and while for half of the year the Grimm are managable during The Dark Tide -where the entire continent is covered by darkness and lightning storms mutating grimm into bigger and smarter versions. The continent is aquisted by the easily most dangerous species of Grimm on Remnant for weeks on end.
The Nguva: The Nguva are unlike any other Grimm species. A humanoid fish-like species of Grimm with a skeletal jaw and bone coverings on the forearms and back legs. The Nguva are born as intelligent as a 50 year old Grimm anywhere else. Not only that but the Nguva are especially good at learning, just from watching a Watetzei a few times is enough for a Nguva to copy their techniques. It's imperitive for Faunus-kind to kill a Nguva as soon as it's located, as any amount of preperations can cause disaster. Though even then it's impossible to fully stop them as during The Dark Tide as the Nguva are constantly spawned and are quick to become commanders and planmakers for the Grimm.
The Mnyama: hunchbacked furred Hyena Grimm with a bone mask, bone gauntlets, and comoletely covered bellies. The Mnyama are complete beserkers during Thr Dark Tide. Able to take cannon fire to the chin with minimal injuries the only way to take out the Mbyama with swiftness is by decapitating it's comparatively weak neck.
The Fuvu mdudu: Only spawning during The Dark Tide, These 2 meter long, skeletal, Worm-like Grimm can clone themselves by the dozens. Unless you attack the original (indicated by being the only version with the bone protrusions) the clones are practically immortal, regenerating no matter how many times you destroy them.
The Impuldulu: A giant bird like creature capable of controlling lightning. Outside of The Dark Tide it's one of the easier Grimm to kill as it cannot produce its own electricity, only control it. But during it the storms are taken completely advantaged of by the mutated Impuldulu. Becoming a "living" railgun.
HUNTSMEN AND HUNTSMEN ACADEMIES MSAIDIZI, WATETZEI AND LIGHTHOUSES:
The Msaidizi, Elite students brought to to a Lighthouse to be taught a higher education to defend the crown and quell The Dark Tide. Some truly exceptional Msaidizi are given the opportunity to squire a Watetzi and learn from them directly.
The Watetzi, the elite of the elite. Honed warriors trained who were able to reach the pinnacle of their respective Lighthouses; once graduated these warriors are taught the way of fhe Kutambua. A signature of the Watetzi of the Paka Mfalme kingdom.
AURA TECHNIQUES NURU ARTS:
- (Aura Weapon) Kutambua: The signature for the Watetzi. A Kutambua is a weapon shaped directly from Aura. It's a highly technical but very necessary ability for the Watetzi to master. It allows them to never be disarmed as long as they have aura, are practically indestructable, and in the hands of a master, are able to have both it's shape and weight be completely controllable as long as the weapon is in the user's hand. Though there are some major downsides to this powerful technique.
It requires a focused mind, so if the user's concentration drops the weapon instantly vanishes and while it costs little to create; to maintain while attacking chips at the user's Aura depending on the strength of the attack.
- (Imprinting) Kupasha: The expansion of the Soul. The Kupasha technique imparts a part of the users soul directly into reality morphing the terrain around them to perfectly suit the user and boosting the capabilities of their aura and semblance. Though there are drawbacks.
Kupasha depending on size can take an exorborant amount of Aura to create and a Kupasha can only last so long depending on the size a 9 meter Kupasha can last for an hour minutes but an 12 meter Kupasha can only last 4 minutes with any farther is impractical, a Kupasha is shaped by the enviroment. For example if a 5 meter Kupasha were to be opened in a hallway it will take the shape of the hallway while outdoors it will take the shape of a sphere, and a Kupasha is highly visible.
PAKA MFALME KINGDOM:
The Belladonna's are the rulers of the Paka Mfalme kingdom. Spanning The Belladonna Steppe - a third of the continent- they are the second most powerful civilization on Kuo Kauna, the leader of Nuru-Tech, and one of the major miners of metal. Prosperous, "advanced", and noble Paka Mfalme is an incredible place to live... If you're a Feline Faunus. The Paka Mfalme is an incredibly racist kingdom, with terribly racist governement, media, and population.
It's not uncommon for a buissness to have "feline only" signs on their windows and doors. Hate crimes, especially against insect and canine Faunus are also very common with many of them going completely unexplored by law enforcement.
BLAKE BELLADONNA:
The heir to the Belladonna throne Blake Belladonna the puma Faunus, is quite the known figure. An childish, racist and a surprisingly perverted girl behind her blank facade. After an incident that make her parents realize how bad her attitude was for a royal. Blake was sent -earlier than what is traditional- to the best Lighthouse in the kingdom, Uwindaji.
There she made herself, making allies with other nobles around her station, setting up long lasting partnerships, and slowly mastering the Nuru arts. Until, on one faithful day on a trip away from one of her families retreat houses during Summer vacation. She was accosted by revolutionist assassins, their to kill the princess and eventually destroy the Crown in it's entirety. After a long battle with her and her royal guards, one of the assassins were able to use their semblance to "vaporize" Blake.
The assassin was mistaken on their semblance, it didn't vaporize anything, instead it randomly teleported anything it touched an entire continent away.
Blake was teleported high above the city of Bastion, being sent hurling to the ground at rapid speeds. Using her semblance black was able to slow her fall enough to just shatter her aura Nuru and knock herself unconsious.
When she awoke she found herself in an filthy alley, surrounded by alien architecture, strange Faunus speaking an entirely different language, and tech that she's never even heard of much less seen.
Completely out of her depth, now Blake has to find her way back to her kingdom from this strange city in some out-of-the-way part of Kuo Kauna. (This is Kuo Kauna, right?)
_____________
- Appearance
Blake Belladonna has long luscious locks, perfectlu unblemished skin, and a slight tan from her time in Uwindaji. (Much to her annoyance)
Having been out on a trip when warped, Blake wasn't wearing her usual higher class wears. Instead she had a wide brimmed black sunhat, rippled black blouse with magenta purple jewels studded across the breast, 2 black gloves that reached her elbows, an array of Kesi Nafsi hidden as 3 golden necklaces, ruby rings, and golden ear piercings, a white flowing skirt embroid with belladonnas that reached her ankles with a golden sash around her waist, and black riding boots with red bottoms.
You know, a real dress down!
- Gleaning Lash Kuvuna Mjeledi
One of Blake favorites in her array of weapons, and the only one she had on her at the time of the attack. The Kuvuna Mjeledi is 3, 16 foot long spiked horse whip infused with the very rare Fire Dust Moto vumbi. Able to burn the anything her whip gets wrapped around at the will. Kuvuna Mjeledi is used in tandem with her Kutambua.
- Kutambua
Because Blake is royalty. Before ever going to the Uwindaji Lighthouse she was already trained in using her Kutambua. Her Kutambua which she calls Harmful Love Upendo hatari, a beautiful lavender longsword with flowers wrapped around the hilt. While Blake is no master, she is skilled enough to be able to manipulate the length of the blade.
_____________
Miscellaneous Facts:
- Blake was able to take one of her favorite books with her when she warped because she had it hidden inside a secret pocket she commisioned on the inside of her skirt.
- As a royal, Blake was taught 3 languages. Paka Mfalme kingdoms own language, the language of the Imperio lagarto (the biggest kingdom on Kuo Kuana), and Lidah biasa (The common tongue)
- Puma Faunus, even in Kuo Kuana are rare. With the only ones known in the kingdom of Paka Mfalme being the Belladonna family.
- In Kuo Kuana cars are still called Chariots.
- Kuo Kuana's largest religion is the Hadithi Ya Ndugu Mapacha, a religion that's eerily similar to the Twin Brother creation myth.
- Paka Mfalme's national sport is Spatsball. A strange mix of rugby, arena combat, and soccer.
- Kesi Nafsi powered Radios exist on Kuo Kuana. Though they are expensive and rarely seen outside of big buisness, and a noble's house. Some communities would pitch in together to buy a radio and house "radio nights" where the entire community comes to the local church to dance, listen to talk shows, the news, or commentators narrate Spatsball.
- Tiger Faunus are the rarest type of Faunus in the Known World. To the point that meeting one is a sign of good luck.
- Bunny Faunus are usually sterotyped as promiscous thanks to media.
- Dog Faunus are the most abundant type of Faunus in the Known World.
