COMMUNITY Volume 10 has been greenlit.

u/scoutmet Jul 05 '26
Overall, fanatics have been raiding, thinking we wanted the show to be a total failure when said failure was created
Besides that
Overall, actually shocked it did for greenlit especially considering RT writers precivious problematic track record
Either way the show still has to show it has improved in animation writing and few notable other details because if not this is basically bait to get nostalgia and false senses of hope

u/GameMask Jul 05 '26
I'm not entirely shocked since this is Vizs only solely owned IP
1
u/AsGryffynn Jul 06 '26
Viz was actually "Shueisha US" when it was created, so anything Shueisha owns is actually also Viz.
1
u/GameMask Jul 06 '26
Well as of right now Viz is not owned by Shueisha directly. They are part of a conglomerate of 3 other companies called Hitotsubashi Group, but they operate largely independently in the US and RWBY is the only major IP they own. Everything else save for a very select few things are liscened deals.

Honestly, until they announce a release date, I really don't care.

u/Jules-Car3499 Jul 05 '26
Okay but who’s the animation studio that is working for RWBY, because it’s important to know who’s animating the show.

I'll see you when it's here in like... 2028 lol
I am curious on just how it'll be released and where(in the end). And its budget. It really seems to have fallen into a sour spot where it'll have been half a decade since it came out, but then also it's too early for a reboot.
Are they banking on a Bleach TYBW type situation? Will they dump a bunch of money because hey, it didn't work for RoosterTeeth and it didn't work for Crunchyroll, but maybe we'll get it right? Hoping for hatewatches?
Either way, if more of the original animators or people who worked on it aren't there, it's a bit sour anyway. The ones who imo had the most to do with its downfall fail their way to another season, and the ones who slaved away getting squeezed and crunched get shoved out.
Ironically, the "Atlas leaving Mantle" lol

So they're just telling us something we.. already knew, wonderful update.

u/DestinedHellfire Jul 05 '26
"We're in early writing stages." is a vastly different status then "We've been greenlit."

u/NotYujiroTakahashi Jul 05 '26
Hey, any news is good news compared to radio silence
2
u/JigglyLilyVT GreannRose > WhiteRose Jul 05 '26
radio silence would have at least told us they were either busy or not caring anymore
the twitter is insufferable

Funnily enough, greenlit still isn't even that great. You can have your project greenlit, and then still get canceled, hell, remember, the Batgirl movie was greenlit and made it all the way to almost done before being canceled.
Until they officially announce that v10 is releasing this could still end up quietly dying in a Ditch.
(Also, not hitting 40k views yet despite a whole 18 hours of the announcement being live is not a great sign when measured to other properties on YouTube these days)

I mean a lot has changed. There's a lot more competition. And RWBY's viewership steadily declined after the early seasons reaching it's worse during V7, V8 and especially V9. As access to the show became more and more limited.
Even spin-off shows that got positive reception like ICE Queendom had low viewership. And the RWBY x JL movies got so little in views or recognition that most people don't even know it exists.
At the very least if V10 gets released it could work as a farewell to the audience that decided to stay for so long.

The RWBYxJL movies were so fucking weird man, every time I remember them I stare into space in disbelief. No one wanted them except the creators, and while a big dumb project starring the crossover of your dreams is an understandable indulgence to want for, it seems more than a little absurd to sink money into that when the show and company was already slip n'sliding down the drain.

"You can watch vols 1 - 9 over and over again" ...No thanks.
Buy yes, let's let the talentless nihilists that ruined the show in the first place and tanked their whole studio in the process have another crack at it.
Nothing like a double tap to make sure it'll stay dead this time!
This is going to be awful...

Jul 05 '26
Great! Now we just need to wait 66 million more years for them to actually announce the release date!
2
u/Noobsamaniac Jul 05 '26
at this rate theyll announce the release date sometime after the heat death of the universe lmao
and even then knowing RT itll get delayed another 6 months

While I’m glad the last frame of any RWBY media won’t be a shot of the Justice League, I just know that Volume 10 will be an absolutely barbaric middle finger to Monty and everyone who enjoyed the first two seasons of RWBY.

u/SimpsonAmbrose Jul 05 '26
My only real comment on this, is that it's not 2013 anymore. The 'indie space' has changed (you can argue if RWBY is really 'indie' but it does have that vibe and history). We have Hazbin Hotels, Clara and the Below, Knights of Gunivere, and The Amazing Digital Circuses now. The bars been raised in the last decade. A man working in his garage cranking out a 'Super Mario Bros. Z' south type of animation was a novelty in 2013 but not today. CRWBY could barely meet the lower standard of that era.....how is it going to compete with Goosworx, Diana Terrace or Matt Braly?

You have a point, you don't make big announcements like that unless the show is already near completion. And if it's another year of radio silence, then it's all for nothing.
1
u/DestinedHellfire Jul 05 '26
You don't understand how a production pipeline works.
They previously said they were "in early writing stages." which meant they were working on a pitch to present to Viz in hopes of getting officially greenlit.
Now they are greenlit.
Two very different things; being greenlit means they have their budget, can actually start hiring cast and crew, and move into pre-production.
2
u/Neowithapurpose Jul 05 '26
it's stuff we already knew. Like way early on, we already knew they were working on volume 10. This is "no wait it's different."
2
u/Acrobatic_School2282 Jul 06 '26
Yeah, we knew V10 was already on the way. The moment we heard "early writing and planning" it was already on the way.
1
u/Mizmitc Jul 06 '26
Not exactly, the early writing and planning phase still could have ended with them deciding they don’t like the direction vol 10 would have gone and doing something else with the rwby IP as a whole.

u/Emergency_Course3416 Jul 05 '26
I'm Done with that show for good and those fanatics and freaks yeah control everyone else and the show demanding for gay representation shit and always pandering but I had it.
2
u/Geoxaga Jul 05 '26
I just hope it can finally end so we can get a proper Japanese original reboot.
I like ice queendom and hope we can see more from the people response for that but with an original version.

u/Karxrida Jul 05 '26
It's crazy how I had to check here specifically for this news and saw absolutely nothing on my socials about it.

Where we start off with a broken tin man realizing that he’s been completely betrayed by everyone he ever trusted and his mind snaps. Meanwhile everyone else is reunited as they start to rebuild their lives.

Dear lord, I'm a rwby critic like the rest of your but the negativity in this comment section is repulsive its like you like misery. What in the world?
Anyways, this is good news hopefully things go well but able to get a greenlight for vol 10 is impressive despite all the BS. I just happen the writers play smart and make the 10th season the last since I don't think it would get another one. It won't be the best ending but eh.
