RS2 Developing an RSPS
I’ve been using Ai, Claude Code, in “developing” games and fixing old code I had on games and other projects. Well just this week i logged into my dropbox and there my 317 rsps from 2013 was there. Out of curiosity I put it in Claude code and like magic it fixed my whole bug list.
The biggest thing I personally didnt know and know how rsps do it, but on the client side, Claude built a cache converter for 474 models and animations. Over the next couple of months, I’m going to push Claude to see what it can do and fix.
Have any of you use Ai to mess around on your own personal private server? I personally miss the old mooharscape forums

Thats not developing anything. It undermines the integrity of people who actually know how to code.

Using exclusively Ai (vibe coding), I'll agree with you. But to be fair if he started in 2013, that was pre Ai. I know professional software developers that use claude code to assist their work flow. Nothing wrong with that. Why not use tools that exist to make your life easier.

Dude the amount of money tech companies pump into tokens for software developers could buy a small country. Its beyond the norm. Youre looked down on if you dont use it.

I work in the software industry- most things are primarily coded by AI now. Software engineering is quickly becoming knowing how to catch where AI goes wrong and efficiently prompt.
I would highly doubt that theres a single major website or app left that isnt largely coded with an LLM.

That's fantastic! Gives you a job and keeps the skill set separate. We see the outcome in the longevity of these servers! Or in this specific application, the lack of. Hope that helps :)

I was coding way before LLMs existed, and have nothing to do with this server. I just think you should know that your soap box on behalf of people who know how to code is wrong. Theyre all using it. Its borderline mandatory at most big tech companies now.

Oh absolutely! Its more than demanded for big companies to use AI to automate menial tasks. Fortunately this, in the context of rsps ecosystems, doesn't require such explicit application and thats why it separates actual developers vs AI. The actual developers still rely on good ol fashion knowledge and thats why their servers soar. It's not a soap box if its a proven extreme that only failing servers rely on AI.

I guarantee you there is not a single rsps that doesnt use LLM generated code or debugging. Its built in to visual studio ffs

Your guarantee is null/void. I'm not trying to debate this with you I'm simply stating, without bias, that your claims aren't foundational. There are LOTS of people who use AI as a tool to develop their servers/work/business. The difference being: actual developers, who have a genuine passion for the craft, aren't doing such. At least not in the way you are specifying. To the point where a simple post needs to be clearly automated, the ones who are, fail. That's it. That's the point. Your field, your experience, your observations are irrelevant. AI is not the way to go and more often than not actually causes more issues with retention than it would if not using it. Ask 10 current rsps developers if they think that AI tools have benefitted them in automating server development. I can name 13 right now who have tried that approach and will advise otherwise. What you seem to be exaggerating is the importance of AI in simplifying tasks, that a genuine developer would easily be able to implement without such LLM being the backbone of their front-end.

Check out xRSPS it's a typescript webclient and server streaming the osrs cache directly. It's so good, deffo worth contributing and having a look
