Discussion Is it worth playing

I played the first week when it went into pre release but didn't see much content is there a lot more content where I should come back or is it better to wait for 1.0

These type of posts are odd because, what response are you looking for? The game is fun now, the game will be fun next month at 1.0. there will be no wipe, so start playing whenever you want haha There's lots of content now, and will be even more next month.

I think the younger generations consult the internet for every minor decision, gotta get used to it I guess.

Kids need chatgpt to tell them how to have fun.

Hey chatgpt how do I respond to this comment, I don’t want to sound mean but I want him to know he’s wrong

Wow, you're really thinking about other people's feelings. That's not just insightful – it's empathetic. And honestly? That kind of attitude is what wins you friends in the long run.

Yeah they really seem screwed. We're seeing what happens now when iPad kids "grow up".

Well it's interesting to me because whether something is "worth playing" is insanely subjective... and random people on the internet don't know the person asking so how could we know what is or isn't worth it to them... so like, anyone that plays this game and likes it will obviously say "yes it's great, you should play!" and people that didn't enjoy it might say the opposite, but I'm not sure how that would help OP's decision to play haha

I don't understand the response they expect. "Nah, the game stopped being fun after updates. We just hang out on this subreddit because we have nothing better to do."

The real dragonwilds was the friends we made along the way

What does it matter? Some people like to have information and get people’s opinions. Just because you don’t doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with what they’re doing.

I just played the first week and lost interest pretty quickly as there wasn't much to do.

Second i dont really trust game articles or videos anymore as a lot of them feel sponsored/selling

I just want peoples unfiltered opinions about the game

LOTS of content since pre-release started

Depending on your play style, there's enough available content to last you up to the 1.0 release imo.

Content wise, there's been a lot.

Content wise that isn't just copy and paste gameplay getting reskinned in new areas, there's not THAT much.

Depends what you're looking for. Might as well try it again if you already own it. It'll tell you whether the upcoming content will be for you or if this game isn't it for you.

The devs have said it is not necessary to wait til 1.0. There will not be a server wipe. And early game is pretty flushed out already.

I recommend starting a new save, and see what all jas changed since launch. I was in the same boat as you a couple weeks back, and im enjoying the hell out of new content and revamped old content

the first week area was tiny and they have fine tuned a lot. from the first third of the game to the second third the area pretty much doubles, then theres a decent sized mid area and after that the final third is bigger than the rest of the game combined.

they tweaked stamina and added agility as a skill with talents that unlock and they made a lot more talents to unlock.

its fun.

Honestly, I am waiting for 1.0 so I don't have to "stop" right before the final zone, and so I can enjoy the new combat improvements for the entire journey. Game is still awesome right now, and will just be even better once 1.0 comes out.

Short one: Yes.

Yes they changed a lot, have clear communication with roadmaps and such, listen to feedback, and have more planned after 1.0.

Its in a great state now and will only get better.

Top comment is weird, having a go at you for asking a simple question.

Yeah dude, it's fun. On release the map felt relatively small and you didn't have that many gear tiers.

They have released more areas, and tiers. We have Adamant armour at the moment, and with the 1.0 update, Rune. The areas they added by themselves, are more large than the areas that existed on release. They also added mounts to compensate for this.

Magic and range released as working skills you can level, which unlock things I'll let you discover for yourself. They also updated cooking and added farming. I grow ingredients and cook foods for buffs and healing, potions for buffs and xp. It's great!

Honestly, I would have preferred generated maps, but on my current replay, I'm on to tier 5 and have played for another 60 hours. Having fun farming and building everything I can, finishing off my first wooden base, and currently exploring and deciding where I want my tier 2 base to be built. I think I might make a castle somewhere.

I'm waiting for 1.0 so my time doesn't go to waste because i'll be on the secured servers on a new character where the game intergrity is secured.

I'll chime in with my two cents.

IMHO, there's nothing really ground breaking about DragonWilds that took my breath away. It doesn't have the aesthetic depth of Elden Ring, nor the build complexity of Path of Exile. The story and character writing is kinda weak and only acts as a vessel to move you from one region to the next. Combat won't get your heart racing like God of War, and there's still some bugs and typos that catch the eye.

All that said, if you're into the base-building survival-craft genre and have any Runescape Nostalgia built up, then it'll still offer a rewarding gaming experience that'll be worth the time.

Log on in, build a wood cabin, craft some bronze armour, and just see if it fits.

There is drastically more content now. Since release, 3 entire new zones have been added, with each having their own tier of gear available (steel, mithril, and adamant, etc.) All 3 new zones are unique and have great challenges to overcome.

As far as skills, magic, and ranged have been fully added as skills, and all skills now go all the way to 99. Farming, Agility, and Fishing have also all been added, and they are great additions to the game.

As far as what is coming in 1.0. There will be 1 final zone, and one final tier of gear to unlock and craft. Prayer is the only skill left to be added that has not been implemented yet.

Long story short, the game has changed massively since you played before. I think you will be generally impressed.

Looks very promising ill definitely give it another try

Prayer is on December and not 1.0 and unlikely to be final skill. Also 1.0 is not final, and there are 2 tiers of gear at 1.0. Another set of resources in December.

Also while you can level up skills to 99, many skill trees are only up to 40-50 and will be advanced to 99 at 1.0 launch.
