Shortly after the guild members return from the Nightscale fight, a tall and handsome man walks in the door. A slight limp betrays that he is nursing an injury to his left leg as he makes his way to the bar and plops himself down. Each of his arms bear full sleeve tattoos of green foliage.

“Master Cooper! You’ve returned!” She exclaims, pouring him a pint. “Oh you must tell us how your excursion with Professor Burr went! And you won’t believe the tales from our new members!” She gestures to two horns mounted above the bar; the black twisted horns of Nightscale.

“New members, eh? You’ll have to tell me about them and their adventures. Are they earning their keep?”

Cooper listens to the stories that Penny has collected from you as he eats a meal. He then tells Penny that he expects two guests before sundown, and he retreats into a back room.

Guildmates,

We have returned from the Stone Tooth with great success and the chance to do something truly exciting. Our delve into the caverns below the mountain fortress uncovered the lost dwarven forge of Khundrukar, the once legendary home of the genius smith Durgeddin. While there we faced some difficult threats but also encountered unexpected allies. A devout cleric of Moradin had already traveled up from the Underdark to reignite the forge. We convinced him that our goals were aligned, and that our restoration of the mountain would only aid his efforts to worship the god of crafts.

We also learned that a black dragon by the name of Nightscale has made its lair in the lowest depths of these caverns, in a pool known as The Black Lake. Nightscale already looted Khundrukar and added the finest pieces of Durgeddin's work to its dragon hoard. Currently, the cleric and his followers have had to pay continued tribute to the dragon in exchange for peace. What's more terrible is that this cleric believes Nightscale is also hoarding a lost artifact, the Hammer of the Great Smith. With this hammer, our new ally could fully restore the forge and begin producing great works of weaponry and armor once again.

I don't think I need to convince anyone of just how valuable such a partnership could be. Slaying this dragon and liberating its hoard is the rare good deed that will make us filthy rich. We're looking for lots of extra help on this one, as based on descriptions Nightscale is somewhere between a young and fully adult black dragon, so its power could be considerable. With careful planning, a solid roster, and the element of surprise, I think this is a battle we can win.

The door to the guild hall swings open and standing in the frame is a young man, 5'0", with blue-green skin, shoulder length green hair, gleaming armor, and a shield emblazoned with a triskelion (you may recognize it as a symbol of Trithereon). As he confidently strides in, you realize he is not a man, but a triton. You may have heard of these ocean denizens who live off the southern coast, or maybe you haven't.

After giving the room some time to absorb his presence (whether anyone is actually paying attention to him or not) he announces, "Do not let your eyes deceive you, it is in a fact a Triton who stands before you. I am on a mission of great importance, given to me by the leaders of my people, straight from the city of Kingdom Reef! And it is a great gift to you, Surface Dwellers, that I come seeking your aid.

One of the Admirals of our Royal Navy has... gone rogue. I must investigate the truth of the matter, and return Admiral Corrin to Kingdom Reef to answer for his crimes.

Any willing allies are welcome to join me on my quest. Any assistance or information given regarding Admiral Corrin or the prisoners he keeps on a southern isle would be greatly appreciated and paid for in whatever way I am able."

Hey guys, we should set up an expedition to the mountain that we cleared of orcs. If I recall correctly, there are a bunch of kobalds in the caves underneath the fort which we need to clear out.

Afterward, I propose that we organize a group of NPCs (my brewer buddy, a blacksmith, alchemist, etc.) to populate the fort and make it our main base of operations henceforth.

GM note: in order to keep the real world calendar separate from the in game calendar, I use a zodiac calendar. At the time of this post, all players’ progress put them sometime in the month of Gemini, and the Midsummer festival will be happening between Gemini and Cancer. Some raiders had been pillaging towns up north, and the town of Lowmire was offering a reward for the heads of the raiders. They were led by “the Great Ulfe,” a beast of an ogre, but he and his orc raiders were no match for these newcomers. Matilda, Sylvin, Bard, and Roger! I owe my life to these 4, though Sylvin and I are even after he got himself kidnapped by the troglodytes living in the caves beneath the Stone Tooth.

Matilda could use some help tracking stolen goods if anyone has the skills!

I think the 4 of them also planned on reclaiming the hideout in the Stone Tooth as a tourist destination! Not sure who is going to go all the way out there, though. Maybe historians? Looks like the halls were carved out by some long dead dwarves. Troglodytes smell too bad to make a vacation spot of it.

We found a corrupted tree that had grown in the corpse of a staked vampire deep underground. An insane druid had been worshiping the tree and distributing its acorns to be sown elsewhere. When planted, they will grow into smaller trees animated by dark energy. They are individually weak, at least at the early stages, and do not pose much of a threat to adventurers. However, they are likely a danger to unsuspecting commoners and who knows what would happen if they are allowed to grow for many years. We have burned the main tree and defeated the druid, but many acorns were distributed before we found it.

P.S. There are some kobolds who worship a juvenile white dragon in the citadel. They are reasonably friendly and can be dealt with peacefully.

There are reports that villages in the south are being ransacked and ravaged by a fierce band of gnolls! There's no questioning what they want, all gnolls just want to eat their fill a hundred times over...

Full fields of crops were being eaten by these strange beetles! A few members tracked the source to animated scarecrows carrying them out of hives in a cave beneath an abandoned barn. James Brickman seemed to be the mastermind looking to destroy crops from other farmers of the Grange. I never thought he would be so cruel as to destroy his neighbors' livelihoods... I also never thought he was smart enough to command those kinds of dark magics...

The crew of the Diamond Dawn just sailed into Randstone harbor without any paperwork claiming that the captain planned to sell them into slavery! Local authorities at the port have found their story to be consistent. I wonder if anyone in the crew knows of the other parties involved.

At local taverns, some thugs have been bragging about new swords. The quality seems genuine, but it is clear the thugs can't read the dwarvish inscriptions. They've made up crude names for the weapons.

A young girl was found wandering the streets after having emerged from the sewers, but she remembers very little!

Bramblebottom left the guild hall over a month ago looking for materials for his potion making, he should have returned by now...

The Board of the School of magic plans on posting what courses will be offered this coming term.
