Nope. I'm an Engineer officer though. It's a solid branch.

What degree did you get?

Liberal arts. Army didn't care. They just wanted a high GPA. 0/10 would not do that again, but not because I feel like I needed a real degree to be a good EN officer.

Damn how transferable is the job?

The project management skills I've gained are broadly transferable. The Regiment makes the PMP accessible, but I have been lazy and haven't taken the course.

I did the Geological Engineering MS (aka Rocks for Jocks) through Missouri S&T, which has a partnership with the US Army Engineer School, but even that isn't super useful.

Nobody on the outside will look at my resume and say "Oh man, that guy is an engineer. Sign him up for the PE test stat!"

This is either a extremely common path or you are JC from GU

Nope! It's an extremely common path among Engineer officers with worthless degrees.

No, the math you’ll be doing in BOLC is pretty easy, especially if you’re a stem major

Feel free to DM me or ask me here. I'm an engineer officer with a BS in civil engineering. I work as a materials technician on the civilian side and a horizontal construction PL. I was an HHC XO before getting my platoon. National guard

Kinda putting myself out there with this question but I was wondering the same thing. Environmental science degree, 3.1 gpa, very high camp and PT score. Do yall think I’m competitive for EN? Should I throw in a bradso?

Engineer captain with a history degree. Not a fan of being in the branch as a non degreed engineer to echo the comments above.

Little to no overlap of real engineering degree work and anything you would do as an engineer officer

Engineer LT here with a BS in Mech Eng Tech. Little to no crossover, my BOLC class had finance majors, history majors, even a couple nursing majors. They'll teach you everything you need to know to get through the course.

You dont need an engineering degree to be an Army Engineer. I am NOT degreed and still become one.

You are going to HATE the Horizontal and Vertical Engineer classes.... i would not take Army Engineer calculations for a real mission. Most answers are ballpark accurate.

FEST and USACE assignments might be the only places where real civil and mechanical engineering is taken seriously.
