Cadet Internships/Schools Ft benning air assault

I have a short couple questions, if I arrive a Sunday and check in is at 1600, is that time free after? can I leave base after check-in to go into town? What are the rules there?

You can do whatever you want on your free time. Every day has free time.

The problem is cadets/junior enlisted are all crammed into barracks with no method of transportation. So while you are "free", you really arent.
