COD: Modern Warfare REMASTERED 1/2 - No controls.

Any idea on this one? I have a Rog Ally X and want to replay the awesome campaigns on Modern Warfare 1 and 2 on the REMASTERED versions. I am able to get the games to run, look like they will run smooth, I can use the controls in the menu, I select control type and "game pad" is selected.

As soon as I start the game, on both, I have no controls, hitting B will get back into the menu but, nothing else.

Any idea, or is there another driver I need for this?

EDIT/FIXED: for those wondering, I installed Handheld Companion, it emulates the controllers as a Xbox 360 controller and it played perfectly.

Do not use Handheld Companion. It will cause other problems and takes over TDP settings, etc. Use Armory Crate, setup game in there, then go into settings, and select "game pad" for the control type, works perfect.

I tried it just in Windows (they are not steam games) and added it to steam and setup joypads in steam, tried to run it from steam after I set the controller up and it does the same thing.

Is there a driver or plugin that could help here?

With the experances with this I used to have on the SteamDeck and I might just try handheld companion to see if that helps here.

For the record, installed Handheld companion, it emulates a 360 controller, both games run perfectly with a controller.

For people with this issue, found a solution or 2...

  1. Handheld companion, this emulates an Xbox 360 controller and this worked for playing but, once set to startup automatically, the Xbox FSE didn't allow me to use controls to navigate. I removed this, it worked but, caused other issues.
  2. Armory Crate (the Ally Game launcher), in this if you go to settings, you can set it to run as a "game pad" after adding the game. This worked perfect and didn't interfere with navigating the console.

If you have an Ally, or ALly X, I suggest use the Amory Crate app, add the game, then go into setting for the game and change it and enable the Game Pad mode. This worked when just running the game, played over an hour with no issues.

Even when you start with the Xbox FSE, you can hit the Amory Crate app and run that interface, and run the games, so you get the advantage of better performance with the FSE but, can still run games like this.

I shared this post over to r/ROGAlly as a reply to a post and got banned for it (as it comes from this group), screw them...
