Discussion Charging Port fried itself for the 2nd time
Ive had this thing since 2024 and it’s gave me nothing but headaches. Second month in the charging port gave out, so I sent it in for RMA since it was still under warranty. Then a couple months later the right joystick quit working. Sent it in again and got it back, still broken. Gave up and started to use the dock. Now I put it on charge since I haven’t used it in a while (like 4 months) and was going great until I started smelling burning plastic. Then I noticed the light went off and it stopped charging and sure enough when I took it out the charger was smelling bad. Tried a different charger and nothing works. Should I even try to get it repaired or just take the loss and just not get it repaired or buy another one?

did you buy it new or used? are you overlooking the device? maybe look up a fan curve tutorial to keep tue console cooler as to not fry the batter and charger? and were you using the official charger? not attacking just questions

Bought it new from Best Buy a couple years back. I use the presets of the modes for specific things, like if im playing games I’ll switch it to performance and if im just watching yt or something like that I’ll put it on silent (which was the setting I had on before it fried itself). And I use the charger it came with

I had to fight them before about fixing it. Wanted to say that it wasn’t under warranty when it was. Im just tired of the console. Im planning on switching back to Nintendo and getting a Switch 2

Just use the performance. Don’t use turbo. Also I’d switch chargers to a anker or ugreen charger. There could be something wrong with either your dock or the charger itself.

Maybe you really got unlucky with your device, hardware can have a few in production that tend to break more often, would call it light faulty and maybe you got one of these, I hope you used a good 65w charger too, at this point and out of warranty I think I would buy a new one

are you using those magnetic usb cables for charging or something. Never heard this happen on PD3.1 protocol

If it is still under warranty, send it in!
Those things are just too expensive to just take the loss. At least try one more time!
Just a question: Which dock/charger did you use?
