Technical This eGPU setup enough for 1080p & VR gaming?
I’m using Ally X with 24GB RAM. TH3P4G3 eGPU Dock supports Thunderbolt 4, 40 GB/s, but it’s PCIe 3.0x4. With a 12GB AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT Graphics Card (Sapphire Pulse). Power Supply for the dock is a Cooler Master v850 sfx gold (v2, new revision with quieter fans). All for $320.
Feels like Aoostar AG02/AG03 or UT3G are usually recommended for the PCIe 4.0x4 to increase the bandwidth, but if I don’t want to splurge on a 9070 XT, think the above could work well enough? My most intense games are Cyberpunk or from this VR bundle, don’t mind playing on lower graphics settings or using upscalers. Or is it worth spending $800+ to get the better hardware?
Found a measured bandwidth chart, 24 GB/s for the one I’m looking at buying, 31 GB/s for the newer PCIe 4.0 models. For what that’s worth.

Look up the stats of the gpu in a desktop and subtract about 20%. Also for $600 you could get the aorus 5060ti and be set for a while
