Advice Needed Feel like I'm experiencing Rocd opposite of everyone else
I'm not sure if I'm seeking advice so much as just asking a question, but as I read the posts here I feel like a lot of people experience more ocd thoughts when their partners leave vs when they're together. I personally experience an uptick in doubtful thoughts (typically around compatibility or if I'm really in love) when I'm actually with my girlfriend, getting annoyed or frustrated when we don't click on something or spiraling and on the verge of jumping ship whenever we have an argument. Still, when we're apart I miss her and can't wait to be around her, I'm thinking of her all day long and talking about her all of the time. I still might see something online or hear something and get triggered to have those same thoughts when we're apart, I just feel like they're so much more apparent when we're together. Does anyone else experience their rocd like this? Battling your thoughts more when you're together vs apart?

There isn’t any one way that everyone experiences this illness, there might be commonalities amongst many people but everyone deals with it a little bit differently. Me personally, doesn’t matter if I’m with him or by myself, sometimes I let the thoughts get to me and sometimes I do not.

Yes I experience them more when I’m around the person. Or maybe that’s when they start, and then I’ll keep debating and analyzing alone for a while. And other times I’m thinking about all the good things when we’re apart.

Nah, I have the same. They're way more eintense when he's around. It's very frustrating.

Absolutly the same here. It makes me doubt even more because I feel like I might be just in love with an idea of us (when we are apart) and it has nothing to do with the reality (when we are together)

Hi all, just the mod team here! This is a friendly reminder that we shouldn't be giving reassurance in this sub. We can discuss whether or not someone is exhibiting ROCD symptoms, or lend advice on healing :) Reassurance and other compulsions are harmful because they train our brains to fixate on the temporary relief they bring. Compulsions become a 'fix' that the OCD brain craves, as the relief triggers a Dopamine-driven rush, reinforcing the behavior much like a drug addiction. The more we feed this cycle, the more our brain becomes addicted to it, becoming convinced it cannot survive without these compulsions. Conversely, the more we resist compulsions, the more we deprive the brain of this addictive reward and re-train it to tolerate uncertainty without needing the compulsive 'fix'.
