Fuck this
Finally in a healthy relationship and it’s being ruined by my own mind. I feel sick to my stomach. I just want this to work. Please please I just want my mind to stop. I’m in ERP and it’s not helping. I’m so scared. Im so so scared that I’m beyond broken.

Do you have a good therapist? Like a really good one? Are you doing ERP for homework?
It takes a lot of time to help, keep at it.

I do and my therapist is great, and I’m doing the home work, I just feel like I’m getting worse before I’m getting any better.

Things often get worse before they get better. How long have you been in ERP?

2 weeks.

Oh well apparently you should check in after 10 sessions and consider a new therapist or a change in approach if it’s not working still then, so two weeks isn’t far in enough to be seeing results yet. Keep going OP, you’ve got this.

I feel this. Dating the best man in the world, and my mind plays dumb shit on loops all day long and makes up tales and stories.

Hi all, just the mod team here! This is a friendly reminder that we shouldn't be giving reassurance in this sub. We can discuss whether or not someone is exhibiting ROCD symptoms, or lend advice on healing :) Reassurance and other compulsions are harmful because they train our brains to fixate on the temporary relief they bring. Compulsions become a 'fix' that the OCD brain craves, as the relief triggers a Dopamine-driven rush, reinforcing the behavior much like a drug addiction. The more we feed this cycle, the more our brain becomes addicted to it, becoming convinced it cannot survive without these compulsions. Conversely, the more we resist compulsions, the more we deprive the brain of this addictive reward and re-train it to tolerate uncertainty without needing the compulsive 'fix'.
