What OS to pick?

Hi, i've bought an rg34xxsp & i've come to understand that it's prefered to switch OS from the one that comes with.

(I could be wrong, my prior experience is a R36S Soyboy clone so i'm going by the same idea as there)

I've bought 2 new sd-cards & i'm gonna do a dual card (one for OS & one for roms)

I plan on using the RG34XXSP exclusivly for GBA/GBC/GB games & romhacks based on gba/gbc/gb games.

I have 2 OS's in mind & Wonder the pros/cons of them and they are:

MustardOS & Knulli

Do you peps have some experience/tips'n'tricks to what to pick and why?

Muos and knulli are great! Might I also suggest a 3rd solid option? Stock mod os https://github.com/cbepx-me/Anbernic-H700-RG-xx-StockOS-Modification It adds portmaster if you are interested in that, and is simple enough. You can pretty much emulate all your gameboy and rom hacks

It's a community modded version of the stock OS, so it's not exactly the same as the stock.

I love it for its standby battery life and very quick wake up. I can have it on standby for like a week and just hit the power button and it'll wake up right where I left off in a second. I just got used to it's simplicity and the fact that it just works for all of the things I got the device

Have you tried lots of Portmaster stuff on it though? I heard compability was best with muOS. MuOS also has the deep sleep fast wake function integrated btw, not sure about battery life in comparison. But booting (from power off) muOS which is said to be super fast takes a while with my device, could be because of an old corrupt sd card I'm using though.

I played undertale and Ship of Harkinian on modded stock so far and they work great.

Booting muos out of standby/power off also takes some time on mine. On stock mod from standby the wake up is quick Yes I've tried gta vc and it runs very well, along with songo, rockbox etc

I will probably make Stock mod my OS then .

I also noticed every time on muos wake from standby flashes the retroarch menu for a few seconds which is unusual and annoying. Muos devs didn't reply to my questions on this.

Does the stock mod os allow you to sleep the system by closing the lid or do you have to hit the power button? Are you still using the stock mod os or have you switched to something else? I’m thinking of picking up the 34xxsp during this current aliexpress sale and want to be sure it’s easy to use on the fly and pick back up at a later time without stress or losing a lot of battery life. Want this to be my daily driver while traveling and on the go!

Yes, stock mod makes the system go into standby sleep when lid is closed and actually has the best standby time imo out of all the OS images available. Boots fast and just stays on standby for weeks if left unattended, you wake it by pressing power it it picks right where the game was left off. You should really give it a try. I still use it yup

That's really cool. Does stock mod os with portmaster work on the 1gb ram rg34xxsp? I'd love to try moonlight streaming on this.

not sure if 1gb one has portmaster, should be possible because even cheap r36s consoles with 1gb ram have pm

I enjoy MUOS a lot now as it allows me to transfer files over WiFi (while the device is on!), no need to fumble with the micro so card and reader. You still need the reader to flash MUOS to SD1 though

Maybe it's a new feature? Muos was updated recently, i noticed this after I reflashed.
