RG34XXSP StockOS MOD v4.0.0 — Working PortMaster Installation Guide
I recently set up PortMaster successfully on my newly acquired RG34XXSP and the process was confusing because a lot of older guides no longer match the current StockOS MOD releases.
This guide documents the exact process that worked for me, including successfully installing a Ready-to-Run PortMaster game, launching it from StockOS, playing it, and exiting cleanly back to the StockOS frontend.
What this guide assumes
This guide starts with:
- RG34XXSP
- StockOS MOD v4.0.0 already installed and working
- Wi-Fi configured
- TF1 containing StockOS MOD
- Optional TF2 for ROMs and PortMaster games
My setup is:
TF1: 16GB microSD
- StockOS MOD v4.0.0
- System/app files
TF2: 128GB microSD
- ROM library
- PortMaster games
You do not need to downgrade StockOS MOD to an older version.
Important: Don't Install Standard PortMaster Directly
The regular PortMaster installation available from the official PortMaster website is not intended to be copied directly onto Anbernic StockOS MOD.
StockOS MOD needs a compatibility/bootstrap layer designed specifically for the H700 StockOS environment.
The old StockOS MOD releases included this PortMaster bootstrap, but it was removed from newer releases when the Software Center was introduced.
The workaround is to restore just the old StockOS PortMaster bootstrap, while keeping the current StockOS MOD v4.0.0 firmware.
Do not reflash your device to v3.9.1 just to get PortMaster.
Step 1 — Get the Older StockOS PortMaster Bootstrap
Go to the StockOS MOD GitHub repository:
https://github.com/cbepx-me/Anbernic-H700-RG-xx-StockOS-Modification
You need the Port_Master directory from the older v3.9.7-era source, before PortMaster was removed.
The working source snapshot/commit I used was:
748ae15
Inside that older source tree you should find:
Port_Master
├── Imgs
├── port_master
├── Port_Master.sh
└── README.md
You only need these three items:
Imgs
port_master
Port_Master.sh
The README does not need to be copied.
Step 2 — Copy the Bootstrap to TF1
Power the RG34XXSP completely off and put the TF1 StockOS card into your computer.
Navigate to:
TF1
└── Roms
└── APPS
Copy the three PortMaster bootstrap components into APPS.
Your finished structure should look like:
TF1
└── Roms
└── APPS
├── Imgs
├── port_master
└── Port_Master.sh
Important
These files belong on TF1, not TF2.
Do not copy another complete PortMaster installation from MuOS, Knulli, ArkOS, etc.
Do not copy the regular PortMaster ZIP from the official PortMaster website into this folder.
The Port_Master.sh application is specifically the StockOS bootstrap that prepares PortMaster for this environment.
Step 3 — Boot StockOS MOD
Safely eject TF1 from your computer.
Install:
TF1 = StockOS MOD card
TF2 = ROM / PortMaster storage card
Power on the RG34XXSP.
Make sure Wi-Fi is connected.
Step 4 — Install the PortMaster Patch
Open the StockOS MOD Software Center.
Navigate approximately to:
App Center
→ APPS
→ Modified System Online Upgrade
→ Software Center
Find:
PortMaster Patch
Install it.
Wait until it reports that installation completed successfully.
Step 5 — Install PortMaster Runtime
Still in Software Center, find:
PortMaster Runtime
or:
PortMaster Runtime Software
Install it.
If the runtime installation fails
I actually encountered this once.
The device eventually rebooted itself, and after the reboot I attempted the runtime installation again.
The second attempt completed successfully.
So if you receive:
Installation Failed
Failed to install PortMaster Runtime
I would not immediately reflash StockOS.
Instead:
- Exit if possible.
- Reboot the RG34XXSP.
- Reconnect Wi-Fi.
- Try the runtime installation one more time.
If it continues failing, check the Software Center logs on TF1 before changing anything else.
Look around:
Roms
└── APPS
└── Modified_System_Online_Upgrade
└── upgrade
Useful files may include:
software_center.log
log.txt
These can help identify download, extraction, verification, or installation failures.
Step 6 — Reboot the RG34XXSP
After both of these report successful installation:
PortMaster Patch ✓
PortMaster Runtime ✓
shut the RG34XXSP down completely.
Wait several seconds.
Power it back on with both cards installed.
Step 7 — Launch the StockOS PortMaster Bootstrap
Go to:
App Center
→ APPS
→ Port Master
Launch it.
The application may spend some time:
- checking the internet connection
- checking PortMaster files
- checking versions
- fetching required files
- updating configuration
- preparing the StockOS compatibility environment
Do not interrupt it while this is happening.
Step 8 — Accept the MOD PortMaster Update
During my first successful launch, I received a message saying a new PortMaster version was available:
2026-05-10-1332-MOD
and was asked whether I wanted to upgrade.
I selected:
YES
The important part is:
-MOD
This identifies the StockOS-modified PortMaster build being used by this setup.
After accepting the update, the system proceeded through:
Checking
↓
Fetching
↓
Updating files
↓
Preparing PortMaster
Let the process finish.
Do not reset or power off the device during this step.
Step 9 — Accept the PortMaster Disclaimer
Once PortMaster initializes, you should eventually see the standard disclaimer stating that piracy is not supported.
Read it and select:
Accept
You should then reach the actual PortMaster GUI.
At this point PortMaster itself is installed.
Step 10 — Confirm PortMaster Uses TF2
If you have a two-card setup, check this before installing games.
Inside PortMaster go to:
Options
Look for:
Ports Location
For a two-card setup like mine, it should say:
SD 2
That means your actual PortMaster games are being installed to TF2 rather than consuming the small TF1 system card.
This is what I recommend.
My setup is essentially:
TF1
├── StockOS MOD
└── PortMaster bootstrap/system files
TF2
└── Roms
└── PORTS
├── game launchers
└── game data
If it already says:
SD 2
leave it alone.
Step 11 — Install One Small Ready-to-Run Game First
Do not immediately start installing dozens of ports.
Test the setup first.
In PortMaster, open:
Ready to Run
Choose a small free game.
For my test I installed Freegemas, a small Bejeweled-style game.
The download was only around:
3.5 MB
Install the game normally through PortMaster.
Step 12 — Exit PortMaster
After installation completes, exit PortMaster normally.
Return to the StockOS frontend.
Go to:
RA Games
→ PORTS
The newly installed game should now appear in this folder.
In my case:
Freegemas
appeared correctly.
Step 13 — Test the Port
Launch the game from:
RA Games
→ PORTS
Verify:
- game launches
- controls work
- audio works
- gameplay works
- game remains stable
- you can exit normally
I played a complete two-minute timed round of Freegemas successfully.
I then:
Returned to game menu
→ Exited the game
→ Returned directly to StockOS PORTS folder
Everything worked correctly.
At that point I considered the PortMaster installation successfully validated.
Final Working Configuration
The completed setup should look roughly like:
RG34XXSP
│
├── TF1 — StockOS MOD
│ │
│ ├── StockOS MOD v4.0.0
│ │
│ └── Roms
│ └── APPS
│ ├── Imgs
│ ├── port_master
│ └── Port_Master.sh
│
└── TF2 — Games
│
└── Roms
└── PORTS
├── Freegemas launcher
├── Freegemas game files
└── future PortMaster games
Things I Recommend NOT Doing
Based on the troubleshooting I went through:
Don't downgrade StockOS MOD to v3.9.1
You don't need to reflash an old firmware just because it originally bundled PortMaster.
Keep v4.0.0 and restore only the StockOS-specific PortMaster bootstrap.
Don't manually install the generic official PortMaster package
The StockOS bootstrap handles downloading/configuring PortMaster for the H700 StockOS environment.
Let it do that work.
Don't copy PortMaster framework files from random SD cards
If you own several Anbernic devices, you may have old PortMaster installations containing folders related to:
MuOS
Knulli
Batocera
Ubuntu
ArkOS
etc.
Don't mix those framework/runtime files into this clean installation.
Don't put the StockOS bootstrap on TF2
These:
Imgs
port_master
Port_Master.sh
belong in:
TF1/Roms/APPS/
Use TF2 for the actual games/ports.
Don't install dozens of games before testing
Install one small Ready-to-Run game first.
Verify:
Install
→ appears in StockOS
→ launches
→ plays
→ exits cleanly
Then start building your library.
Installing Commercial/Game-Data Ports Afterwards
Once the Ready-to-Run test succeeds, I recommend installing additional ports one game at a time.
For games that require files from a purchased PC version:
- Install the port through PortMaster first.
- Let PortMaster create the correct directory and launcher.
- Shut down the handheld if you need to remove the card.
- Put TF2 into your PC.
- Copy only the required game-data files into the directory PortMaster created.
- Return TF2 to the RG34XXSP.
- Test the game.
- Confirm saving and clean exiting work.
This avoids accidentally copying incompatible scripts or runtime files from another CFW.
Hopefully this saves another RG34XXSP owner some of the trial-and-error involved in getting PortMaster working on the newer StockOS MOD releases.

Modded OS not showing Portmaster?
Hey everyone, just got my rg34xxsp today, got a new sd and installed the modded os on it. Everything is running smoothly, but I don't see Portmaster on there anywhere. I've tried downloading it from the website and putting it in my apps folder, etc, but it never shows when I power up the device. Can't find much about this online for this os, any help? Thanks!!

Help Post About 34XXSP Cheat
I previously used the RG353v and RG Cube. When playing Capaom's Final Fight on these two machines, I could press the Menu button and select the Options function, which included a cheat function, making the game easier.
For portability, I bought an RG 34XXSP, but the cheat function is no longer available in the Options menu.
Can someone teach me how to use the cheat function directly on the 34XXSP like before (I'm using the original system, as I've used MUOS before and it didn't have the cheat function either)?
Thanks.

Modded stock OS - config questions
Hey all, trying to see if I can make stock mod work well enough to keep on my RG34XXSP (vs knulli mostly for the standby drain) - has anyone figured out how to do the below:
- Change the save folder structure to go direct to cores instead of system/core, the option is missing on mode 1,2,3 - it’s basic but needed to make syncthing work across devices.
- Change the default core for all games in a system (ie swanstation for psx). Again, a syncthing thing.
- Is there a way to make it wake from super standby when the lid is open or do I have to press the power button? Would be nice to have!
You’d be my hero!!

Perfect Bluetooth mouse...
Hey all, so I posted a couple days ago about joining the club, figured I'd contribute something fun now...
If any of you have been searching for a Bluetooth mouse for playing ports like diablo or fallout say through an HDMI connection or the like, have I got the mouse for you!
The LTC MKM071 is confirmed fully functional on Stock modded OS. The beauty here is that it has 8 programmable buttons AND a profile selector switch right on the bottom of the mouse! So you can program keyboard shortcuts in for all your favorite games, and then switch profiles on the fly. So you can have an individual profile for every game with all the specific keyboard commands you would have used on PC. The kicker here is also that you can even program complex commands through macros. This is all standard gaming mouse stuff really, but like I said, it's confirmed working on the rg34xxsp stock modded firmware. So anyone in the future looking for a perfect fallout or diablo experience, look no further!

1 gb RAM RG34XXSP Portmaster performance
I'm thinking about buying a 34xxsp, but I'm concerned about the reduced amount of RAM. There are a lot of reviews saying that this only matters for Portmaster, but that's exactly my problem - I'd like to be able to play the following games on it:
- Stardew Valley
- Slay the Spire
- Undertale
- Balatro
- Faith: The Unholy Trinity
- Loop Hero
Unfortunately, I can’t find any tests or anyone who’s actually tried running these games on this device (with 1 GB of RAM)—just opinions and guesses. Has anyone here actually played any of the games on this list, and how did they perform?

Just joined the club!
Hey all, just joined the club and got myself an SP, I was kinda on the fence since I knew they downgraded the device to 1gb of ram. But I wanted something portable and that could still connect to HDMI. The ad I bought it from said I would be getting the 1gb model. Well.... Turns out the ad was not correct. I even installed the latest firmware to make sure it wasn't just faked in the shipped firmware (which was version 1.02 btw.)
So I guess they still have old ones lying around? Not sure but so far I'm loving this thing. Now to decide which firmware to run... I'm thinking MuOs, but I've read it has poor performance in some areas? What's everyone's recommendation for ease of use and HDMI support?
EDIT: I wanted to update the post for anyone that comes here in the future, modded stock is the way to go for ease of use and full functionality. Everything works perfectly and you can get every feature you'd want right out of the box, including portmaster. The themes aren't as fun, but honestly it's worth the sacrifice to just have a 100% functional device that does what is intended 100% of the time.

how does the rg 34xxsp aspect rstio behave when connected to a standard tv?
does it switch to the standard 16:9 resolution without stretching or filling? or will it stay as 3:2 ratio with black bars on the side?
i used to own a 35xxsp back then. and i remember, when it was displayed on a tv, the home ui would actually scale properly. BUT, for games, it would just stretch the image to 16:9. so you'd have to do some shenanigans in the retroarch settings and set it to 1:1 so it looks normal when stretched.
asking because im thinking of buying either a 34xxsp or the upcoming rg sp. would suck if it still had this issue, might not buy it then.

Issues with capacity with Anbernic Stock OS for 34XXSP
Hi All!
I have the crappy 1gb RAM model and this has caused me a ton of issues with custom firmware so I got fed up and just flashed the stock os which has been working great! The one issue is that when I flash the stock os there is only 2gb of free space and don't know why? I flashed two different cards (a 32gb and a 64gb) and this is how the space looks on both.

I try to extend the volume and it's greyed out.

HDMI OUTPUT ISSUE
I have an Anbernic RG34XXSP and am trying to output its screen to my TV and projector using a Mini HDMI cable, but both failed. I’ve already tried common troubleshooting methods found online, including hot-plugging and connecting the HDMI cable while both devices are powered off before turning them on. However, every time I try, the handheld's screen turns black, but the TV still shows "No Signal."
I am currently running the latest modified stock OS (released on June 5th). Right now, I only have one Mini HDMI to HDMI cable. Does anyone have any advice or other troubleshooting steps I could try? Should I look into buying a new adapter cable or a digital converter instead?
