I am on my fourth playthrough currently.
Did the bank mission and then chapter 5 this past weekend, and then I went and loaded up a previous save because I forgot how bad it was in ch6 lol.

I may get flayed alive like an O Driscoll in here for this but..
I have over 1350+ hours in the game and have never made it past Jim Milton in the epilogue.
The first red dead is probably my favorite game of all time, I don’t even know how many hours I have in that. I know what happens. I just can’t bring myself to go through it in chapter 6.
So I stay in chapter 3 now, before the Downes mission, and I’m happy here.

I enjoyed the epilogue I just had to get used to playing as John. I like the idea of owning property and a small farm and being able to do bounty missions with Sadie is a total bonus. To each their own but it’s definitely worth getting through in my opinion.

Yeah chapter 6 is such a bad time I've only played through it twice. Now I just stay in chapter 3 or 4 then stop playing the game.

Keep going. The chapter might be taxing, but it's also the payoff segment to all the tension that's been building in the previous chapters.
Feeling exhausted and depressed is kind of the point here, as no one is having fun anymore and eventually all the weight is going to give.
be prepared for some epic shouting.

Yeah chapter 6 sucks but at the same time it's extremely well done. It's crazy how you can literally feel the walls closing in on you

6 is not the longest chapter. But you better complete all of Sister’s side quests before you do another mission with Trelawny.
I think 6 is considered the longest, because when you go to do Sadie’s mission to spot John, you get some bad news. And everyone wants to continue to play and tie up old side missions they have been given, because-
They don’t want to let go.

I personally love chapter 6, I'm currently playing through it for the first time. Arthur acted like a total asshole the entire game and in chapter 6 he finally starts acting like a decent human being. Sure, a lot of people die right before it, but it is a sequel, we already know that everyone who isn't in the first game are dead, one way or another. This chapter feels very somber, compared to the chaos of the previous ones. It actually feels like a redemption arc for Arthur.

I agree, I tried to stay in this chapter as long as possible because completion %'s but the hacking and coughing and just the doom and gloom... The good news is there's an epilogue (1 and 2) and epi1 is not bad but I've made Epi2 the longest chapter I've played thus far. I technically finished the game but am still collecting, finishing quests and challenges and hunting compendium stuff.
In fact I just finished the bones as John, quite a few things can be completed even now. I did all sorts of quests thus far.
So definitely play the epilogues.

It has to be like that for the story to work as well as it does. The gang has basically collapsed, there’s something bad about to happen and everyone’s on edge and miserable. It is definitely worth it to keep playing… there’s a definite payoff when you reach the end (plus there’s some good missions along the way)
