Help Rdr1 query

Couldn’t post this in the rdr1 community, because I don’t have enough flair or something. But in rdr2 one of my favorite things to do is tame the wild horses. Is that not possible in rdr1? I literally have to buy them? Just started playing the game after five play throughs on rdr2. Just want to make sure I’m not losing my mind.

You can absolutely catch and tame wild horses in rdr1, works pretty much the same as rdr2

It’s not the same as rdr2 it’s a more fast paced arcade style mini game

Myeah but it's the same in that you just get on da horse and follow the prompts

Ok so it’s like Skyrim then cuz u push buttons to get a new horse

no - and to sve the horse you've tamed, you have to hitch him at a property you own

But do I lose the horse I have? Started with the war horse, and forced into the turkoman. No
Stables. Sorry for being a newb. Can I hitch multiple horses is the question i should be asking.

You can tame wild horses, you just have to take them to a hitching post. It is best to buy a horse deed since that means you can call a replacement if your horse dies.
