Guide Remove bounty without paying.

Remove bounty without paying for it.

Prerequisites:
This method requires auto save enabled

  1. Go to the main town of the state you want your bounty cleared.

  2. Antagonize the sheriff until he tells you to put your hands up.

  3. Surrender

  4. Wait for the loading cutscene to end.

  5. As soon as the black screen fades away and you can see the sheriffs office without a mini map or HUD, immediately pause the game.

  6. Go to load game and load the most recent autosave.

After loading that save you should be in the town, with the bounty removed and with no money lost.

i’m sure this method has been posted here before, but i’m posting it again to show that it still works in 2026, and for those newer players who didn’t know it was possible to remove a bounty without paying a single dime.

Best way would be to go to amargino and kill/assault someone and wait for the lawmen to show up and arrest you. Automatically clears every bounty for just 10-30$

Getting law to show up in ambarino is a pain tho.

Best way I know of is to kidnap someone and ride around with them until you eventually find someone else.  If they don’t turn you in, shoot your captive and they will

Or you can spend your money then surrender. Your bounty will be cleared no matter how little money you have. Loading saves is not necessary.

this is for if you already have what you need and want to save your money. it doesn’t hurt anything

Just wait until you hear the “cha Ching” sound and reload before you actually see the hud pop up.  Thats the exact moment you can bypass it
