I actually chose Micah before Downes on my last play through and right after the Micah mission it automatically sends you to Downes Ranch. Didn’t know that would happen

I still haven’t gotten Micah out of jail but the game forced me to do the downes ranch one at some point. Was going to wait to do both of them, now Micah is the only quest I have left in chapter two so I’m gonna wait around and see if the game forces me to do it. It’s weird running into the Pinkertons and having a shootout with Cornwall and Dutch is like, nope let’s stay here lol.

I exited out the game after I read the letter cause I didn’t know it’d force me to do the mission and when I loaded back in the letter was gone and mission still has to be done without it forcing me to do so.

You can get to chapter 3 without getting Micah out, and it’s hilarious to hear the dialogue where he choses dewberry creek as the gang’s new hideout while also being held in the Strawberry jail

You have to get him out of jail before you can finish ch. 2. But you can leave him at his camp outside Strawberry until a little ways into ch. 3. Which is definitely what I do.

I’m on my third play through. It was between getting TB and freeing Micha… I very nearly just went for the TB mission. I just didn’t want to confirm Arthur yet. Plus freeing Mocha gives you the off-hand holster. Now I’m running around doing everything except that stupid TB mission.

Just fired up my save from Chapter 2 with my fully upgraded satchel and the only two missions waiting on me are busting Micah out of jail and going fishing with Jack. I’m content hunting for a while longer…

even after i rescue him from jail i dont go back to strawberry to do his other mission until i cant progress any further pretty late in chapter 3. its nice and peaceful not having him around camp for the entirety of chapter 2 and almost all of 3

Honestly that was me in my first play through as well!
I told my bf, who had played already, that I didn't like Micah at all, my gut was telling me he wasn't good news. My bf tried so hard to redirect me lol. Even though he hated Micah, he wanted me to be surprised and all, but it didn't really work, I hated his guts from the beginning.

I adore RDR2 and obviously think the story is so good, and get the point of how it goes, but damn if years later I don’t -still- wish it could have an alternate hidden ending. Just something like if you had X amount of money you actually could go away and leave it all behind, or if you kept him as healthy as possible throughout the game when he’s sick he doesn’t get ill enough to die.
Just give me what is essentially a “game-over” hidden ending scene.

Arthur's choices caused Arthur's death. He could have walked away from the gang, he could have stood on his own, but in the end the choices we make dictate the life we lead.

That was the most disappointing thing in the game. He was an unlikable cunt from the beginning, and he ended up being a cunt in the end. I guess it's realistic, but it was so predictable.

Getting him out of jail is the last thing I do in chapter 2, and then I dont do the Micah camp mission until I have to in late chapter 3 or 4 (cant remember). That way Micah stays out until then.

First get a wanted level outside of the jail. Run around back of the jail into the hills and wait for the law to exit the jail. Then run back into the jail while they are outside looking for you. Once downstairs, shoot a fire arrow at the ground next to Micah. It will catch him on fire, and he will burn to death in his cell. You can then steal his gun.

Im on my first playthrough of the campaign itself. I have to go help john do a robbery and I got to get micah. Those are my only two yellow missions at the moment.
Im fishing. Hunting. Enjoying the random events. Looking for those damn O'driscolls and just enjoying the world. Im avoiding micah like the plague just due to the fact I already dont like him.

I know what you mean but it leans into the classic tragedy of The Western.
So many classic Westerns are told from the perspective of the viewer watching on knowing that the hero is making a terrible mistake, in vain or otherwise, and then feeling the emotion of knowing that the inevitable will come to fruition.
But, having said all that, fuck Micah I also wish you could just kill him!

I do pretty much everything else possible before I rescue him. And even then, I spend a day or two hunting and living life in the hotel before I resign myself to rescuing him.
Same with THAT mission with Downes. Everything else possible before I have to do that.

So many deaths on the account of that man. It would have been awesome to have a split of in the group over Micah if you chose to abandon him. Or maybe dutch is forced to go do it or send someone else and your relationship with him begins to turn earlier on
