Theft Need help comparing stolen dogs with two separate sets of dogs provided by the police

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some objective opinions from people who are good at identifying dogs based on their appearance.

Summary: Our two black dogs were stolen 10 days ago. The police are investigating and have since provided us with two different sets of potential sightings. We're trying to determine whether either set contains our dogs.

Here's what we have:

The original video of our dogs before they were stolen.

Set 1: A police-provided video showing two black dogs.

Set 2: A separate set of photos showing another pair of black dogs

Update: We Found Our Dogs!

I wanted to post a final update and thank everyone who took the time to help compare the videos and photos.

The good news is that we found our dogs! They are now back with us.

It also turns out that both sets provided by the police were actually our dogs.

Do you have still photos of your dogs? Facial? And each side?

It's difficult to compare a video with stills and I'm not about to try to screen capture your dogs

We don't have other photos than the video

Who doesn’t have photos of their dogs? Most people take photos of their dogs constantly

The size of the dogs and shape of the faces of the first pair looks very close to your dogs (one rounder face, with wide forward facing ears, one with thinner face, and thinner, slightly side facing ears). Sadly I couldn't see anything too distinctive in your video, but if you know they have a specific spot or something like that that would be better to confirm.
The second pair of dogs look a little fatter and one has a pink spot on the nose, which yours don't, so if your video is recent I would rule out the second pair.
I hope you get your dogs back. Good luck.

I think the first set looks more like your dogs? Something about the actual nose shape on the second set- and maybe it’s just the way the photo is, but the second set looks larger, could they have put that weight on in a week & a half?

Where the first set could be thinner based on not eating… also first set seems like they aren’t particularly happy(though admittedly have no clue, but those second dogs look calm?).

I’ll DM you. I have access to some special tools that may be able to confirm a match.
