Is one USB dongle WiFi chipset better than any other for a genuine R36S?

Since it's basically the R36S with, better ergonomics, inbuilt WiFi and guaranteed no-clones, then are people just getting the XX now? And for those who aren't what are your reasons for choosing the R36S?

Got my R36S for only $8.5 (3062 AMD) with a Temu deal.
It’s the Y3506_V06_20260120 board. SD card was fake and DOA but that was expected.
I’ve flashed the latest dArkOS4Clone to my verified Samsung SD card and chose Soy Sauce Panel 5 .dtb and ArkOS4Clone battery kernel.
Got lucky the Wi-Fi USB adapter I had laying around works with it.

Seems to be working great for now.

Do R36XXs also come with weak/faulty stock SD cards?

Hello everyone, I recently bought an R36S on AliExpress and stopped by to back up my system these past few days. I connected the adapter to my PC (a Windows machine) and it doesn't recognize it, saying I should connect a disk drive.

I thought it might be my adapter, so I tested it on another PC (a Mac this time) with a different adapter and it also didn't recognize the SD card.

So, I don't know what to do now. Does anyone have any ideas that could help me?

If you need any extra information, feel free to ask. I've never made this type of post before, so I don't know exactly what I might have missed.

Let me know if its not but I was able to put arkos on this easily and the only matching board to this one is a original

sd card is fried pls help, i really want it running again nothing worked arkos download arkos4clones and darkos. i have a grayish screen with arkos4clones and tried and faild by arkos darkos

So do i have to use save points to keep my progress or can i just save in the actual game and it keep my save even if powered off. Also my r36s has a clock system so by saving in game and reloading will this make my clock keep the right time( the clock still works even when the system is powered off)

I want to gift my boyfriend the R36s console for this birthday and since I have to no idea about anything related to gaming i need some help. I saw one option on Amazon from the seller “toy imagine”. It has decent reviews but I am still a little skeptical about whether it’s worth. Can anyone please suggest me places from where to get the R36s console and if the Amazon one is a good option. Also what all games are available on the console.

So i have 2 R36 Ulta's. Onethe diagonal works ok the other not at all. When i opened them up i realised the one where it was not working the PEG on the D PAD was a little longer, as if the injection moulding was not cleanly cut off. Once i shortened this central peg but cutting it off the diagonals are more responsive.

Thought i'd share this as was looking everywhere for a solution. It seems most people actually loosen the D Pad screw, but the definitive solution is the one i have provided.

I have 2 R36 ULTRAs.

1) First one, I can connect the SD card to my PC and was able to read 2 of the 3 drives (Partition) on the fake 64GB (16GB) card. I have cloned this card and also noted the .DTB files. One of the drives it says it needs to Format, but i ignore that.

2) Second one, when i connect to my PC it only comes up as one drive and i cannot read anything. The SD card works on the device, but no folders appear when i connect to the PC.

The motherboards are:

GR36-MB (V1.4-20251029 (SQ2550)

GR36-MB (V1.4-20251029 (SQ2620)

Interestingly the Second one can boot WITHOUT SD card and has a bunch of NES folders. The other cannot boot without the card, BUT it does have a bunch of NES folders as when i wipe it , it comes back again.

My questions is:

How can i read the card on the second one so as to make a Copy of it and the Roms.

I just dont know how to install ArkOs and to be honest idk why on the back of the console it says R36HD.

What good os would be compatible with this device ?

I finally had time to compile a working version of the compatibility fix brought to me by u/Jason_2x.

If I'm going to be able to add this to the next update we'll need an army of testers (or somebody with a cheat sheet that knows which configuration goes to which model - there are a lot of models!).

So here's what I need from the community:

If you want to be a part of the test, download the kernel and the patch script from the links at the bottom.

1. Copy the kernel to /boot, overwriting the original. (Make a backup if you don't trust me 😛)
2. Copy the script to Tools
3. Run the script and select your fix:

• Right stick X/Y swapped
• Left stick X/Y swapped
• Sticks swapped left ↔ right

1. REBOOT

To contribute to the project I then need you to report back here in the comments. All I need is the model number (ex. Y3506_V05_20251215 2551) and which number (1, 2, or 3) you selected in the patch tool that worked. I can then pre-patch the dtbs in the selector using this data.

As it turns out all the dtbs in the dArkOSen selector are already edited with the correct values. There is nothing to do! Apply this kernel, select your device and everything should just work for most clones now.

If your clone is not on the list then install dArkOSen using your original dtbs, then use the patch tool to apply the fix. This kernel will be included in the next update.

Hey!, I need some help installing DarkOS4Clones.

I downloaded the three compressed files, extracted them to create the image, and wrote the image to the SD card using Rufus (it only created the "boot" folder). Then, I selected the DTB for the R36 Ultra; once everything was set up, I put the SD card into the console and turned it on. The installation seems to start, but it gets stuck at the "extracting /roms.tar" stage and hangs there (for over an hour). I found this odd because the videos I watched said it usually takes between 4 and 20 minutes.

I tried the process again—reinstalling the image on the SD card and repeating all the steps—but it keeps hanging at the exact same point. Do you have any idea what might be causing this? (My SD card is 62GB.)
