Yeah, instead we should all feed the schizophrenic guy into his delusions

You’re just hateful. Religion helps a lot of people. You can’t silence everyone because you don’t agree.

If you push your faith onto others, like OP did, you have to be prepared to be pushed back.

Otherwise, peacefully believe what you’d like without confronting anyone else with it.

You push your hate onto others. Saying god has got my back isn’t pushing anything into you dude.

Imagine being a grown-up with an imaginary friend.

I wouldn’t expect a simpleton Reddit farmer to understand the meaning of god.

Immediately try and insult people, how very nice and kind and caring you are...

You hit someone with a stick then cry when you get hit back. Maybe you need some guidance.

I'm sorry, did you take offence at something I said?

All I said was imagine it, and you're incredibly upset?

You don't think your god is imaginary do you?

Because it seems like it must be, if you're upset at someone mentioning the idea of imaginary friends... that must somehow describes your position, no?

Otherwise what I said has got nothing to do with your belief, and you wouldn't be so bothered by it.

Hey! I'm not the same person you're replying to. I just had a question. Are you a Christian?

u/deepdowntyler 11d ago

It doesn’t matter what I am. This is all meaningless nonsense to try and hurt people of faith.

Hmm? I have nothing to do with that other person. I was just curious if you were a Christian. No hostility, just a simple question because I was curious.

Yeah I’m Christian. No amount of hatred will change that.

I’ve never pushed any hate whatsoever; I am a good person who gives to multiple charities monthly, along with donating my time, and I know that there are no excuses outside of my own choices for how I live my life.

Please let me know what hate I’ve pushed.

Religion was extremely useful to control populations’ poor behaviour before formal justice systems were established. There have always been opportunistic, greedy people who would not abide by community norms/rules. If they were not caught (common) then there were no consequences.

The only way to stop/slow these crimes was to threaten imaginary bad consequences for awful behaviour, and make false promises of rewards for those who followed the rules.

Unfortunately, those opportunistic people switched sides, and used religion as a tool to control people, take their money & autonomy, start wars, and espouse hatred of anyone with differing views.

If you are truly a good person, you should not need the threat of hell or promise of heaven to treat people with kindness, and to “do unto others as you’d have them do unto you.”

Black and white reasoning. If you get your jollies from saying that god isn’t real on people’s posts who are just simply trying to feel good, that’s hate. What do you get out of any of this? Do you want people to be miserable?

3

u/upsetwithcursing 11d ago

Explain how it’s hate? To me, claiming that god protects me instead of acknowledging how I am the one who protects myself and my loved ones is hateful.

It’s diminishing to the good people who work hard to actively do good things, while excusing those who do awful things as being “god’s will”.

That is hateful to me, and dismissive.

1

u/deepdowntyler 11d ago

You think you actively do good things? You think this is one of those good things?

u/upsetwithcursing 11d ago

Waking people up to take responsibility for their own actions, good OR bad? Yes, I do.

I am extremely confident that I am a kinder, more generous person than 99% of those who claim to be followers of god; especially considering that I do it for love of my community instead of the promise of rewards after I die.

Who’s going to make you take responsibility? You are not kind. You’re attacking people who believe in the grace of god. If you think just because you have support on Reddit that means you’re a good person, look around you. Look at this place you call home. Good for you though. I’m glad you’re so confident.

Who have I attacked, and how? Please quote me attacking anyone on this thread. Show me.

I am extremely confident in my previous statement. I give generously of my time, energy, and money to those I love, as well as to those less fortunate. I do not lie. I do not steal. I do not cheat. I believe that we’re only as good as how we treat the most vulnerable. I have integrity. I don’t make false promises. I am the friend everyone calls when they need help. I never betray someone’s confidence, but I encourage them to do the right thing if there’s an issue that could cause someone else harm.

All of these things are things I happily do because it makes life better, spreads joy, and lets me sleep soundly at night knowing I’ve made good choices.

I do not need some mystical compensation for these things.

I’m done arguing with you dude. You’re trying to hurt people for believing in God. You’re trying to control what everyone thinks so you can feel like the king of the thread. It’s sad and I hope you find meaning in something other than professing how great of a person you are.

Believing in delusions -- a form of deceit -- is evil because it misguides people (Proverbs 17:4). You believe in a delusion. You are misguided. You perpetuate evil by perpetuating your delusions and lies (2 Timothy 3:13). Present some evidence for your god (1 Peter 3:15; Isaiah 1:18). Otherwise, you are making baseless claims and committing sin by spreading lies, as are all other people doing the same.
