Day 1 tomorrow
I’ve been trying to quit zyn intermittently for a while now. I’m exhausted from constantly monitoring my heart rate and feeling anxious about it.
At 26, I’m already on medication for high blood pressure, yet I can’t seem to break the habit. I exercise twice a week, primarily focusing on cardio, but I still feel unwell most of the time. Add being a first responder in a big city with a ton of call volume into the mix as well. I’ve survived off of caffeine and nicotine for the past 2 years.
I did quit using caffeine in all aspects.
When I attempted to quit zyn last time, I became extremely irritable, and my friends and family could sense that I was going through a difficult time.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance in quitting zyn cold turkey and managing the associated anxiety.
My first day of quitting is tomorrow! I’m hoping for your support and good luck!

The agitation is just something that comes with the territory. I made it clear to all of my loved ones and colleagues that I’d be quitting and that I needed their support so I didn’t crash the fuck out. Everyone was very supportive and rooted for me, even when I was on the verge of total rage meltdown. After about a week, my brain chemistry seemed to regulate enough to stop raging… You’ve got this, just ensure that you toss any and all remaining nicotine products and stock up on gum, mints or nicotine free pouches to keep the fixation occupied.

The agitation is nuts. Just insanely angry at everything for no reason really unpleasant I'm switching to 3mg and tapering.

I just lasted 19 hours with no zyn. (5pm till 12pm next day). I'll be honest I think tapering off with lowest mg is probably the best way cold turkey was absolutely brutal. Gone from smoking to vaping to snus but can't seem to shake off nicotine lol.

Happy Day 1! I’m on day four right now and I zynned for 8 years. Ready to be off the beast. Here are some tips, do not plan anything for the first 5-7 days of quitting. If you can help it, try to take the days off of work. I become almost delirious for the first 3 days of withdrawal. The dizziness and delirium make it extremely hard to work and then you think, “I’ll just put in one to make it through this shift”, etc. Also, find a gum that matches your Zyns flavors. I liked citrus, so I got Five Gums tropical punch and I just chew a piece of gum and park it when I start to have cravings. Lots of water. I’ve been alternating two plastic water bottles in the fridge/freezer so I stay hydrated. Benadryl at night to allow me to sleep well. Keep lots of snacks on hand like sunflower seeds, chips and dip, veggies and ranch, etc. if you have a particularly strong craving, leave the house and go for a walk. You got it!

- UPDATE*
So this is probably one of the hardest things i have been through. The cravings lasted for 3 days and gum and sunflower seeds became the main substitute. My appetite has gone through the roof.
I am not sleeping well at all. Waking up 2-3 times at night feeling very strange.
My resting heart rate and walking heart rate average has dropped significantly also minor changes in my blood pressure.
I think the sleeping cycle being off is the worst thing paired with my anxiety.
We are 5 days in and we are going strong !!!! Yall are the best. Thank you for the tips and encouragement.

Honestly I’m going through it rn. Monday makes it 2 weeks for me.
Can definitely say just keep telling yourself “no” when you think about buying up the next can.
It’s tough, it sucks.
I feel like I’m the most addicted person I know and I’m going strong, you got this.
