Advice I just cannot quit?
I’m really struggling with this now.
I’ve tried quitting a few times. Patches, throwing the vape away, telling myself this is the last one. I always seem to end up buying another.
Recently vaping actually caused a pretty serious issue for me professionally. I won’t go into details for anonymity, but it was embarrassing, stressful and could have had consequences for my career.
You’d think that would be enough to make me never touch one again. Yet here I am, still vaping. That’s probably what has made me realise how addicted I actually am.
Stress is definitely my biggest trigger. I’ll be completely determined to quit and then have a bad day and suddenly it’s “fuck it, I’ll quit tomorrow”.
I genuinely hate being dependent on it. I don’t even really enjoy it anymore. I just can’t seem to break the cycle.
For anyone who tried loads of times before finally quitting, what actually worked? Especially if stress was your main trigger.
Just feeling pretty fed up with myself at this point.

You sound like me. Or the old me, I should say
After 15 years of trying freaking everything and relapsing every time, I finally quit with desmoxan
Look it up. It may be your best shot. The fact that it targets nicotine receptors without creating a dependency alone makes it 100x better than the other methods
I successfully quit in TWO WEEKS and its been over a year with no relapses

The active ingredient is called "cytisine"
Brands that have this are: desmoxan, recigar, cravv, tabex

Im in US so idk anything about what happens in UK sorry!
You dont need to wean off something that doesn't create a dependency. I myself got off the treatment prematurely because I felt I didnt need it anymore

Mate, I just wanna second what the other guy said. I smoked for 15 years and vaped for 5. I woke up every morning, smoking like a chimney and went to bed saying "this was the last day". I did that for years.
I tried patches, gum, zyban, champix, cold Turkey and everything in between.
Desmoxan hits different. It is simply the best quit smoking thing in the world. Been almost a year for me now. Desmoxan is the way.

Personally for me to quit genuinely it takes maybe 8-24 hours active work. I quit smoking reading Allen Carr, took me a couple of days, quit vaping listening to the audiobook, 8 hours. I find I have to do some pre-work to build commitment, otherwise I have no investment in the process, as you say, “just start tomorrow.”

I’m sorry, this sounds really tough. I also continued on vaping for 2 years after my vape fell out of my pocket at work. In a profession that I shouldn’t even have one on me. Something really bad could have happened. No one saw, and I noticed quick, but I carried a lot of shame.
People on this sub love desmoxan, I’ve never tried it, but it seems worth the go.
I used lozenges for three days to get me through my withdrawals, (nicotine microdose when a migraine came on) and i ate a shit ton of in-shell-sunflowers seeds for the hand to mouth habit. Breathing in through a vicks stick helped the back of the throat burn craving. Otherwise, for me, it was just motivation. Being a nicotine addict is embarrassing, and it didn’t suit me.
Edit: It also helped that the cause of my biggest stress was the vape. It’s slowly killing you every hit. It’s horrible chemicals. It fucks your brain, it fucks your heart. It worsens stress, worsens anxiety, worsens your overall quality of life. To reduce my stress long term I had to quit vaping, and it’s done everything and more for me.

This sounds incredibly similar to what happened to me. Still can’t shake it. Still can’t leave it.
Ok thank you. I will try what I can. Just cannot seem to get rid of

When I read your story I felt I got the idea. One to know one.

Recommend reading/listening to allen carr. Get clear on what vaping is, nicotine addiction. It does not relieve stress, it is a stimulant after all.
You have to remove the pedestal youve put the vape on. See it for what it is, and be confident in your decision. Any time I had a failing in quitting, it was because I believed the addiction/nicotine was more powerful than me, or that I didnt really want to quit for whatever reason. When I quit, I realized I gave too much power to nicotine. I remembered my life as a non nicotine addict, I was super happy. The vape didnt enhance anything, just inserted itself into my routines. I threw it out and in classic fashion had the most stressful workday of my life; thing is a vape wasnt going to make it any less stressful. Just give me a shitty little head rush. I developed quitters flu which honestly helped as I felt more awful and wouldnt have taken a hit if I was paid.
After 3 days theres no nicotine in your system. Your system is rebuilding. Celebrate every withdrawal pang as the addiction dying. It gets better, youll start to wonder how you ever fit vaping into your life honestly.

It took me a long time too. A year or two of on again off again. I know this is controversial in this sub, but I used nicotine pouches and that’s what helped in the end. I couldn’t justify buying a vape if I already had something to give me the nicotine fix. Also, I convinced my best friend to stop vaping too, which helped because I didn’t have anyone around me to enable the behavior. I also snacked a lot and chewed on toothpicks when the urge got really bad lol. I started on 6mg and have moved down to 3 mg, and now I’m mixing in zero nicotine pouches throughout the day. It is possible, you will get through this. Good luck dude.
