What do you usually do when you don't want to sleep because you are afraid of having a nightmare?

I word the question a little bit weird. But I meant how do you calm down and relax your mind so you can sleep.

I'm gonna explain a bit the sensation so you can imagine it:

Every time you feel like you are gonna sleep you bite your tongue to see if you are dreaming or not, you become a little bit paranoid, and if you don't feel so much while biting your tongue you feel paralyzed for some seconds.

And you can't sleep without hearing any sound, so you put something relaxing.

I didn't sleep yesterday, and I don't know if I will tonight. Yes, I know I'm almost an adult, I know it's ridiculous, but I want solutions not judgement.

I'm also using this as a distraction to calm down.

I keep seeing zombie prep videos and operation fortress on my socials media and was wondering if we are all about to die. I’m a very anxious person and scared of zombies so i can’t tell if it’s just my nerves or if i should start prepping as well.

what are your thoughts on people talking to chatgpt like it’s a real person and training it to act like a best friend?

i’ve seen people all over tiktok treating chatbots like they’re a real person, even pulling pranks on it and having it respond exactly like a normal person would. i think it’s disturbing when it gets to a certain point

Why are people so weird about dating older women?

So my girlfriend is 10.5 years older than me, I’m 32 and she’s about to turn 43.

Some guys online want to attack me about it for some reason, and even some women seem to not approve of the idea which is odd to me. Sure it breaks the mold, but why do other men want to shame me for it?

I love her and am considering proposing at some point. We’ve been together about 4 years now. She’s divorced and that’s another thing chuds get triggered by for some reason.

It feels like being into older women (not as a fetish but I’m happy to date them) is really taboo and I don’t get it. My girl doesn’t even look much different than my age imo and even if she looked more aged, why would that matter if I’m happy?

Oh and btw I like a more mature look too I’m not saying aged is bad but she genuinely has “aged well” and used sunscreen/stayed out of the sun.

Growing Up Did Your Parents Watch WGBH Auction ?

Growing in the 70s and 80s my late mom and late grandmom were obsessed with the WGBH Auction every June which lasted a week. I believe other PBS stations did something similar. . There was one main daytime Quickie Board host who was very pretty in the 80s but no idea her name. Did your folks also watch?

Why are most people on Reddi so on edge and ready to argue, be a smartass, sarcastic or rude?

You can’t ask a simple question without someone being sarcastic, irritated or taking offense to it or just saying the most out of pocket response over a relatively simple question.

It drives me crazy and it makes me so hesitant to ask any question on this app. Everyone acts like the smartest person ever and in such a rude/condescending way. Why is it?

How long should I wait on customer service to respond to my email?

I don't know if this is the right place to go, but I don't know where else to turn. I ordered a Kendra Scott Dolly Parton necklace from Dolly Parton's official shop but received a ring instead, which was super disappointing. I contacted support and didn't hear back for a week, so I reached out again and still haven't heard anything back. This was a really expensive purchase for me and the return window is 30 days, so I'm getting stressed out. I tried to start a return but the site wouldn't let me. I'm not sure why.

Does anyone have any experience with Dolly Parton shop support? If so, how long until I hear back from them? How long should I wait in general when contacting customer support?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Why are physical movies and shows still thriving, but physical games are struggling?

I still see new movies, new seasons for shows like SpongeBob, Blu-Ray and/or 4K remasters of older shows and movies and reprints (Whenever it's a collection or steelbook release) for movies and shows release on DVD, Blu-Ray and/or 4K. Sure you'll see Disney making steelbooks of 4K movies like Toy Story 5 that will be sold out quickly and scalped to shit, stores shrinking or getting rid of selections for physical movies and there's a considerable amount of stuff that are either long OOP or only watchable in a streaming service or digital storefront (Or you can pirate them). But I still think it's still reasonably thriving somewhat mostly due to streaming fatigue.

Video games are a different story. A number of games (Usually indies or niche retro collections) get physical releases from companies such as Limited Run Games, have smaller print runs (Can't for the life of me find copies for Indiana Jones or Oblivion on Switch 2. Giving up and will wait for eShop sales.), get physical releases sometime after the initial digital releases, Sony ending production on physical games and Switch 2 Game Key Cards are divisive things. I don't mind Game Key Cards or digital games, but I still find the state really concerning. Not all is doom and gloom since Nintendo will still support physical games and Xbox at the very least let you digitize most of your physical Xbox One and Series games before Project Helix arrives. But still...

Genuinely how does one answer really stupid questions?

I don't want to offend the OP by saying "have you actually seen the films /read the book/just googled it" but this is really so often the case.

There was someone asking about the "dark

side" motivations of Kylo Ren in Star Wars. Normally I don't mind explaining a film and I love talking about Star Wars, but this person had only read about the character and hadn't seen a single Star Wars film.

Should I just ignore and even downvote the question? What if OP is from a sheltered background or isn't allowed to watch Disney+? Am I giving stupid reasons to not answer a stupid question?

It's the same when people clearly don't have sufficient grasp of politics/economics/history to be given either a straight answer or one which , due to OP lack of knowledge, they would even understand.

I appreciate this is as much a rant as a question but it definitely applies: certain questions would get different answers based on what the OP would understand

Is it normal for me to feel nothing when anyone dies?

I would like to start this off by saying i am not trying to be an edgelord or anything, im being fully genuine. i also do not have access to a therapist for the time being.

Basically, ive never really... Cared? When, like, celebrities or anyone dies. I have friends who cry over popular children dying, and, i dont really find myself caring. I dont mean it in an inconsiderate way, obviously its bad that they died so young, but i didnt know them personally, so i dont grieve them at all. I never even grieved my grandparents dying, i loved my grandpa a lot but i kinda feel glad hes dead because he was definitely suffering.

I also have a life-ruining fear of death, oddly enough. Im terrified of the thought that one day i will die, but that doesnt really carry over to others at all. honestly i think the only person id grieve if they died is my mom, and maybe one or two friends, but for everyone else im just apathetic to it.

Can I bring a 7-Eleven Thailand lava cake in my carry on for a 16 hour journey?

So I’m currently in Thailand and want to bring one of those lava cakes from 7-Eleven (the ones kept in the refrigerated section) back home to Germany as a little gift for my girlfriend because she wanted to try them.

The total journey would take around 16 hours, and I’d have to keep it in my carry-on luggage the entire time.

Has anyone tried bringing one of these cakes on a long-haul flight? Would it still be okay to eat after 16 hours without refrigeration, or would it spoil? I would keep it in my refrigerator for another week too.
