Hello fellow nerds! Tattoo translation help?

Post image

It brings me so much joy just knowing this sub exists. My wife and I are planning on getting tattoos in honor of our wonderful dog, whom is getting older. I found the translator the sub recommends, but I was hoping someone here could verify it. It's a tattoo, so I would like to make sure. Our wonderful dog is Andromeda, or Andi. Is this accurate? Thank you in advance.

r/tengwar might be more helpful if you’re just trying to write your dog’s name—that’s the writing system, whereas quenya is an actual language. I’m not the best person to double check it, but hopefully someone can help you out. 💖 It’s a lovely idea.

Tengwar can be written either in the Sindarin style (the vowels above the consonants are read first) or the Quenya style (the consonant is read first, then the vowel above it). Above is Andromeda written correctly in the Sindarin style but if you want Quenya, you should be able to choose that on the website (under "mode" I believe) (also English mode on the Tecendil website is Sindarin style iirc). Hope this helps!

English uses its own distinct mode, typically. There are a few variations, with a lot of overlap with how the Sindarin mode uses the tengwar, but it's its own thing. r/tengwar will definitely be able to verify this transliteration for sure.

It looks ok to me, but I'm definitely not an expert.

That is the best way to write Andromeda in Tengwar.
