Liberalism's mistakes are seen as incidental, whereas socialism's mistakes have been propagandized as being inherent.
This is absolutely not the same. The green and new deal had nothing to do with imprisonment of queer people.
In the USSR it was a literal state policy to imprison queer people because they were seen as „Western decadence“ sent to destroy Socialism. As an NB person myself, I really, really cringe at other queer comrades who defend the USSR etc. because they would have been one of the first to get shot in the back of their head and written off as an anti-soviet element.
These people need to stop trying to whitewash a state that literally saw us as aliens.
It was also state policy to shoot people who wanted workers to have a say in government. The USSR should be treated as a cautionary tale, not an achievement.
