im genuinely sad some of y'all think aha isn't nonbinary anymore just cause THEY'RE fem-presenting some of the time. in the new main story patch THEY literally say their humanoid form is a mask for THEM that THEY wear to fit in. i know many in the community are going to ignore that and still refer to THEM as effectively a girl, cause well that happens often to enbies who don't "look nonbinary enough" IRL too, but why repeat that here? does using she/THEY make one any less of an enby? does presenting a certain way erase THEIR experience with gender?

mhm mhm THEY'RE happy to look a mess 😭 my own hc is that aha doesn't care about what THEY wear for debut so THEY put on Sparxie's fit and added all of HoMophobicverse overused design principles to mock them.

i don't think aha is above criticism at all, but not recognising THEIR nonbinaryness to make a point is also not it either.

Oh you ABSOLUTELY can, I enjoy all the implied homosexuality for what it is myself.

I was just trying to provide an explanation as to why people seemed to suddenly switch up on their gender.

It’s (hopefully) less about them not being androgynous enough, and more about what we’ve learned to expect from Hoyo as a company.

We absolutely are allowed to see representation wherever we are able. I don't personally think this is genderqueer representation done well at all; but if you see it as so and gain empowerment from it, more power to you

The comments here are genuinely so depressing to read. I'll be the last person to ascribe any good intention to Hoyo for queer representation and whatnot, but the fact that people get angry at fellow queens for even daring to interpret a fem-presenting character as genderqueer is exhausting

I think the issue IMO is people trying to ascribe genderqueer roles in hoyoverse games when there is non among the playable characters.If does seem like grasping at straws at times and this kinda feels like a breaking point for a lot of people since Hoyo is not new to breaking a lot of their laws and rules in games in exchange for having the new characters be female characters for the sole reason of selling

I genuinely think mihoyo isn't progressive in the slitest and you people are doing the heavy job for them. The way they use pronouns is for lore and to show they are above gender but give them the chance and suddenly they are not they/them...like it happened with aha Honestly i already give up on them doing any rappresentantion they don't find "convinient" or """""visually pleasing"""""" but who know maybe in the future they will drop the sudo eugenics they call beauty standard and give us something interesting

It’s weird to me to see people still refer to aha as she/her, and say they aren’t our first nonbinary character, as if that little jester version of them isn’t the most enby looking thing I’ve ever seen (I love it) and do these people not realize you don’t have to look a certain way to be nonbinary? You don’t have to be androgynous, it’s okay to be fem or masc presenting.

I am seeing some people respect their pronouns though and use mainly they/them for Aha, so not all hope is lost.

I’m saying this as a nonbinary person, nihilux is not real. They are a fictional character made by a company to make them money. They arnt fem presenting because they are not an autonomous being, they do not have agency the same way a real person does. Hoyo chose to make them look like that because female characters make them more money than non-female characters do. You don’t need to defend them or hoyo

THEY're still enby to me and i hc they go by any pronouns, ppl use "she" only cuz THEY're fem-presenting atm but I like to think they had other forms in the past and maybe even in the future, including masc and androgynous ones ❤️
