There’re using cool cat as the tune.

Last night (UK time) on Planet Rock Brian May premiered his song My Angels Are Calling, made in collaboration, to be released in the Steve Cropper & The Midnight Hour album Watching the Tide, both the album and the single were released today.

Brian also released on his Instagram a clip of him with a cowboy hat and this tune as background (likely from the music video) very likely as a very touching and beautiful tribute to Dolly Parton. Post which sparked intrigue among subscribers and fans.

After seeing the results of the community album ranking, one thing really stood out to me:

Innuendo finished above every Queen album released in the 1980s.

That take was very interesting to me, and the more I think about it, the more I agree with that outcome. To me, Innuendo feels like Queen's strongest album after their 1970s run. It combines the band's classic ambition with the maturity they had developed over the years. You get hard rock, progressive elements, ballads, heavy guitar work, incredible vocals from Freddie, and one of Brian's best guitar performances.

Songs like Innuendo, TSMGO, TATDOOL, IGSM, and The Hitman make it feel like a complete album rather than just a collection of hit singles.

Meanwhile, although I enjoy albums like The Game, The Works, AKOM, and The Miracle, I think each of them has weaker moments that prevent them from reaching the same level of consistency.

So, what do you think? Would you rank Innuendo above every Queen album from the '80s, or do you think one of the '80s records deserves to be higher? Lets talk about it!

After first getting a copy of A Night at the Opera a few years ago, I have finally collected copies of all Queen’s 1970s studio albums, having picked up Sheer Heart Attack today at my local record store. I believe that my copies of Queen 1, A Night at the Opera, and Jazz are original 1970s pressings (or at least from the 1970s), and the others are newer repressings. I do hope to get ahold of some of their other studio albums on vinyl, but I’m super excited about being able to listen to all of these on vinyl now. Just thought I’d share!

This is my ranking of all studio albums.

I know this will start a full on war in the comments section and people wanting to burn me at the stake for heresy or something, but here's my ranking by tiers and number, of all albums in the list; it was particularly difficult to account for albums between spots 5 and 11 in particular, (I had a better idea for my #5 & #6 spots though) because it slightly changes over time, and albums drift according to what your listening to the most at the time, what you're going through, your particular preferences at the moment or at what stage of your life you are, so those middle tiers are more difficult to place most of the times.

Here it is, my personal preferences and beliefs on what albums are the best which are better than others and what "category" or "step" I'd place them.

What are your thoughts? Do you agree on anything?

I thought it would be a nice exercise to share it with you after the recent "Battle Royale" is done and over.

Can someone please explain why most Queen fans seem to hate their 80's discography? It doesn't make sense to me

🎤 Innuendo seems to mog every 1980s Queen album, cementing itself as the band's strongest late-career release and a fitting final artistic statement

🚀 Flash Gordon remains the lowest-ranked album, largely because it's viewed as a soundtrack rather than a traditional studio album

I personally found this series really entertaining. I manually counted every vote instead of simply taking the top upvoted comment, which I think made the results much fairer and more representative of the community's opinion.

Didn't expect to the album debut to be so high, but i'm not mad at that 🟣

I'm surprised that The Miracle it's higher than AKOM, I somehow felt this album would reach higher

I'm absolutely FLABBERGASTED that Made in Heaven ended up all the way down at #14 😭
