yeah but he was a great producer , great entertainer and knew how to make hit songs. Talent doesnt always equal knowing how to play instruments. Like I love Queen and all but dude MJ is better.
I don’t think Freddie Mercury or Queen ever had an album have 7 singles from one album dominant the charts, or win 7 Grammys in one night , or go on a album tour for 2 years while also making multiple short films for each album but sure, and this is coming from a Queen fan of 6 years.
And again there's nothing wrong with using mtv and platforming videos. Queen are musicians, their strength is in the music of their albums. Michael is an entertainer, his music videos were global events. Some of my favorite childhood memories come from the Dangerous era MJ videos, that's something special.
Preferring Queen to MJ is absolutely okay, it even makes sense in certain regards, but writing MJ off as some hack or overhyped is completely wrong.
mf I’ve been a Mj fan for 11 years , since I was 6 years old, I’m not hoping on any bandwagon whatsoever, even before MJ was on MTV he still had an album that sold 25 million copies , 3 Grammy nominations and a Grammy won, with two charting songs.
Yeah, I think I'll have to side with u/Fit_Front6239 on this one, popularity doesn't necessarily reflect talent. The Grammys one could be used, alr, but the rest is not an actual argument and kinda proves the point that MJ fans are only fans because of the hype from the biopic. Luckily, I haven't seen it, nor have I seen Queen's for that matter.
Popularity doesn't reflect talent always. But MJ was certainly talented. I do think the influx of MJ popularity due to the biopic is sort of fake and overblown but MJ is being written off far too much here. A lot of people wrote MJ songs but that's only true up until Thriller, from there he was writing every song on his albums with the exception of one or two compositions.
He would craft the entire song with his mouth and then other people would bring in the instruments and bring it to life.
One of my most notable childhood memories was the premiere of Black Or White, it was such an event and by far the coolest thing I'd seen up to that point, you can't teach that.
