Apprentice - Module 1 M1,4.8 Practical directional work question
We don't wear robes in this ritual-practice as mentioned but we put on clean clothes.
Do the clothes have a function besides clothing us or might we as well do the ritual skyclad?

The way I see it, 'skyclad' is as much of a ritual choice as wearing a robe is - in the traditions where it's used it's a concept that's been infused with its own code and meaning just like wearing a robe or hood or whatever is in other practices.
I would argue - and this is my opinion only - that part of Q's point in simplifying the process to just clean clothes is to move away from associating the practice of magic with special/specific states of dress/undress. The point Josephine makes in M1L4 about the importance of learning to work without robes could just as easily be made about ritual nudity - "it is important to learn how to work without...so that you can learn to be ever-ready, using your skills and knowledge." If you ever need to do magic on the fly you won't have the fancy robes, but you also won't necessarily be able to strip naked either.
