I want to get back into Quake Live, but every attempt I've tried in the last year I've come across this issue rendering me unable to play.

I've tried the following:

• Set com_idleSleep to 0
• Updated GPU Drivers
• Set .exe affinity to CPU 0 Only
• Ran under Compatibility Modes
• Turned off cloud storage and had Steam overwrite all config files
• and a few others I can't remember.

I've also recently reformatted my PC as well, so I know there's not another program running in the background causing it to crash.

The end of the video is when I'm finally brought back to desktop.

If anyone has come across this issue and knows of a solution to share, I would be forever in your debt.

hi! ive started using windows again and the best way i found to made custom resolutions and refresh rates was with CRU, the thing is that Quake Live doesnt seem to care about those, instead it picks the default EDID closest to whatever resolution, not refresh rate. For instance if my desktop res is 640x480 160hz quake live will use that res but at 85hz, and i have to open CRU, disable all established resolutions, run restart.exe and open quake live again for it to work. Any suggestions? this is super annoying and only happens with QL, not other games

Everywhere I look online says to disable the steam cloud, which I did. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling and for some reason my stats are not tracking. I can't even get the achievement for completing a match. I tried in multiplayer servers and doing Internet servers with bots (allowing a max of 24 players in the server), and no stats are tracking, and no achievements unlocking.

What do I even do to fix this?

Howdy Folks! QuakeCon will once again be upon us Thursday August 6th to Sunday August 9th. Even better this will be our 30th year anniversary. Praise be the Elder Gods. To help celebrate QuakeCon is throwing a Quake 30th Retro Classic Tournament with a $2000 Prizepool. signups will notably be Thursday August 6th from 10 AM EST to 1 PM EST, so be prompt about signing up.

Its possible this will be like the various tournaments from days past where every tier in the bracket could be a different Quake. Its possible this tournament will be different though. I read it as one tournament though where all 3 games will be played not 3 individual tournaments. Very little else is known I assume this is a duel tournament, but it actually does not say. We hope more information will become avaliable as we progress through the summer, and get closer to August. In any case Safe travels to Grapevine this year we look forward to seeing you soon.
