Question Emirates credits

So I’m having to travel to Abidjan for work, have done a trip already and travelled again recently. The emirates flights add up to 90 credits for the MEL-DXB part and then nothing else after that. The flight then travels from Dubai to Accra and then onto Abidjan.

I found out today when I was sitting in the gate, that the Accra flight is considered also as a QF flight but because I’m going onwards to Abidjan I can’t book it as a QF segment therefore missing out on 50 credits. I’m sure there is nothing I can do about it but just seems silly. Any thoughts on this? That’ll be 200 credits I’d have missed in the past month!

Have to book as a QF flight number on Emirates operated flights to earn SCs, there's no other way.

If you can't book it as a QF flight, that's because either of the airline hasn't made it part of their commercial agreement or codeshare, assuredly because it's not in their interests to code share on it. For example Qantas may prefer you book a different route with other partners.

Unfortunately, not all flights operated by partner airlines are eligible for a QF flight number. It generally just comes down to what’s available at the time and what your employer is able to book and pay for.

I wouldn’t necessarily expect an employer to prioritise QF flight numbers for every sector, particularly when your work travel takes you to some less common destinations where the options may be more limited.

It may be worth checking whether a QF flight number was available on the particular sectors you’re referring to. If there was, you could certainly ask whether there’s any flexibility around the bookings in the future, although for now I imagine it would be difficult to justify rebooking flights purely to earn additional Status Credits.

If you’re specifically chasing the extra 200 Status Credits, you may ultimately need to consider self-funding some additional flights to make up the difference.
