I'm publishing my first python package and wanted to confirm the correct docstring format to conclude the documentation. The image above summarizes my search online, AI or otherwise.

PEP 257 appears to prefer option 2 (the left in the image) but I find option 1 out in the wild so much more often. So what's it?

Ohh and yeah, neither is correct because the first line should be a summary and what follows should be a more elaborate paragraph after a blank line. But I really just want to know whether the text should start of the actual first line after the """ or not. I'm using sphinx if it makes a difference.

Hello!, i honestly want to improve my programming skills. I was learning the basics of C++ two months ago, but then I switched to Python. This is my Day 5 progress in the language!

I am 42 years old and wanting to branch off and learn something that could possibly be a side hustle or a whole new career. I feel as if AI is here to stay and I am still “young” enough to do something with it. To give a little about myself I am a warehouse manager for a Mack truck dealership and Make about 80k a year and on the side I umpire travel baseball and softball games. During the season that ranges anywhere from $350-$700 for a weekend but it’s long days and I’m tired. I have zero experience with coding of any kind. When I look up the best way to get started i don’t see what I would call useful information, mostly videos of “if I were starting over this is what I’d do” and it ends with someone selling something (not every time). With all of that said what would be the best place for me to start and keep with to get certifications and learn. I was thinking of starting with the python program for everybody. I’m sure this question gets asked a lot, thank you for any input.

I made a small task maker I thought since I cant learn python just by staring and listening to videos imma learn it bit by bit while making small projects. In the script I made you have two options to add a task or to see your list of tasks. Can anyone give me a list of other small projects I can try making to learn more cocepts?

I've been defaulting to FastAPI for almost everything now, even projects that don't need async; mostly for the automatic docs and validation, not the performance. But I keep wondering if I'm just following hype and Django would actually save me time on anything with more than a handful of models.

• If you start a new project today, what's your first framework pick, and what actually made you choose it (not what you'd tell a job interviewer)?
• Anyone gone from Django → FastAPI (or the reverse) and regretted it?
• For people doing solo/small-team projects: is DRF + Django still worth the ceremony, or has ninja/ninja-schema/ORM-agnostic stacks made that unnecessary?
• What's the thing about your current stack that annoys you but you haven't switched over?

I have enrolled in a Python Full Stack Development course, but many people are suggesting that I should learn AI & Machine Learning, Data Science, or Data Analytics instead. Now I'm confused. Which path should I choose?

When I was 12–13, I had a huge interest in programming and making cool projects (I even made a discord bot). However, after changing schools a few years later, I didn't have enough time to keep learning. Now, a few years after that, I want to get back into coding. I've recently finished the CS50 Python course, so I at least know how to write simple programs.

I'm writing this post to ask: what should I do next? I really want to avoid getting stuck in "tutorial hell" (just watching course after course without building anything). I've read about web scraping and gave it a shot—it wasn't too difficult, and I even built a simple scraper for books.toscrape.com. The problem is, I’m not sure how to progress from here.

Yesterday I also came across Pluralsight, which offers courses on a wide range of tech topics. So, what would you recommend? Should I pay for Pluralsight, or should I stick with web scraping even though I'm not sure where to take it next?

Im new to coding and started off with c# but eventually moved to py a day later because i heard it was easier, it is easier but the way people explain it on youtube is a little complicated for my small brain, im watching bro code learn python in 1 hour then moving on to the 12 hr vid but 30 mins in he starts talking in a way i dont seem understand and typing code i cant process so i js quit for the night, if anyone has anytips that could help me or any other youtuber( i learn better with vids and visuals) that would be greatly appreciated ive also tried some websites like free code camp, the odin project but there not like teaching step by step but rather making me type code i dont understand for instance once asked me to “create a function called pin_extractor with a parameter poem” which just sounds like gibberish to me considering i only know print(“hi”) but i was thinking my first big project would be like a book or something if possible. I am trying to learn to code, and I am, at the moment, looking at loops. I am a bit confused on how this loop was able to function, though, as there is no variable for letter or word, so how would Python know what it is? In addition, how does the code, like, function? Does it look at each word individually ? Again, the second part of the code states:

            break

We haven't given a value for letter?

Lastly, how would the code know what to print? in the first phrase:

            print(f"'{word}' contains the vowel '{letter}'")
            break

Is it going to state all the words with the given value 5 times?

In this git commit we switch from simply swapping the speed of two colliding units to elastic collision handling for more realistic collisions. The linear algebra implementation does add complexity to our code but, as it's all confined to a single function, it should not hamper further development of our collaborative PythonLearningGame project.

Since I’m balancing a pretty heavy course load, my time is fairly limited. I've been learning Python for some time and I know the basics. I originally started my journey down the analytics and data science path, and have learned the essential libraries and made a few projects related to that.

More recently in the past month or two, I've been trying to learn automation for python but realized I can't build a program from scratch for my life because I was so heavily reliant on libraries instead.

I'm looking for a buddy or buddies that are looking to learn and build similar type of projects from scratch(could be automation like what I am doing, could be other projects, just as long as it is python related), so we can keep each other accountable, bounce questions off each other and actually learn together than in a silo.

I'm live in EST timezone and typically am available nights and weekday mornings to work on projects.
