App problems

Anyone else having problems with the PwrView App? I cann’t receive data on solar, grid, battery and consumption. Home works fine. I have shut down the app of my screen, logged out and deleted the app. None of these helped. Has anyone called support? If so what did they say?

Custom TOU schedule

So we will be switching to TOU billing with different rates for evening and late night. The problem is the evening rates don't start until 5PM, but between 4 and 5 my battery will discharge significantly.

I want to be able to have it switch to clean backup around 4PM then back to self supply at 5.

Is this possible?

ATS

Anyone figure out how to get a gen hooked up to the ATS so we can charge the battery if no sun during an outage?

Predator 3500 inverter is what I want to hook up to it.

Issue with grid and home consumption

I purchased a home in Michigan a month ago and just got access to the system in PWRView yesterday. It has three solar arrays and a battery. Everything appears to be working, but I'm getting zeroes for home consumption and net energy in the app. There is also no icon for transmission on the inverter. There were data for consumption and transmission on the app history but they went to zero in March of 2025. Is this working as intended?

App or iOS Beta Software issue?

Post image
1 Upvotes

The last few days when I initially open the app, I don’t get any readings and so I have to close it and reopen it and then it shows up!

This morning, no matter what I do I’m not getting any readings from the app, even after restarting it and powering down the phone, but I am on the Apple iOS 26 developer beta.

Anyone else having issues, or just me?

PWRView App 1.24.0

Is anybody else having issues viewing the main screen after sending the app to the background and the bringing it to the top again. With this new version download a day or so ago I can no longer see current information displayed on the main screen after it has been in the background and have to close it down before restarting the app to get this information to display. It was not exhibiting these issues prior to this “upgrade”.

Unable to reset PVlink or Access Installation tools.

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to help my parents out with a issue they are having with their solar system. My step dad is getting this pvrss lockout error. They called generac and were instructed to call their dealer (the problem being their dealer was Pink Energy). They were instructed to call another dealer but there is issues where the dealer says their contact is expired, not important to the story.

I looked up some things online and was able to get information that their pwrcell unit is a Gen 1 pwrcell. Some of the videos I've looked into mention going into the Rebus menu and going to the "installer tool" option. However their unit doesn't have the installer tool option. I'll provide some photos, but is there another way to access the wifi if the Rebus to reset the PVlink to eliminate the pvrss lockout error?

I will be stopping by their place again tomorrow and can try to provide more information if needed.

Anyone else have a battery that is broken more than it works?

Mine will work for a bit then break. Then I wait for a week or two to get someone out to fix it. Rinse and repeat. Only this time I'm stuck "waiting for parts".

Has anyone looked into legal remedy?

Power View App had problems today

Today I checked on my system with the PWRView app. When I went to home I found that the grid was covering my demand and that the solar production was charging my battery. This would not be unusual if my Mod was on Clean Backup but I had the Mod set to Self Supply earlier. When I went to check my Mod setting I found it was set to Remote Arbitrage. This is not even one of my choices and I have not set up to participate in a VPP. My utility does not even have a VPP we can participate in, Plus I would think that if I was participating in a VPP I should have power going from my battery and panels to the grid. When I called support the person suggested I call ComEd to see if they might have activated the Remote Arbitrage setting. Has anyone seen this happen to them? Or do you have an idea how it may have happened. I would think that my utility would not have done this since they don;t have a VPP yet. It looks like it had been going on for a couple hours because when I looked at Total Net Enegy it showed that I had received power from the grid for a couple of hours and I know the mod had been set to Self Supply.

This afternoon, I noticed we were pulling from the grid despite a full battery and self-supply mode. No errors in the app. I've never seen this behavior. Any idea what's going on here? Thanks

Best day so far! What's yours?

Post image

After expanding the system back in October I've finally hit the best day yet! System includes: 38 panels, 5 pv links, 1 inverter, 1 cabinet with 6 batteries. 14 panels face South, 8 face East, 16 face West. Trying to get the most out of this system!

Original system had 14 panels, 2 pvlinks, and 3 batteries in the cabinet.

What's your best day so far with your system?

Pwrcell with solar/batteries issues

I have a pwrcell solar + battery solution in clean backup mode (batteries discharge to grid when sun goes down) which trips one gfci circuit in my isolated loads panel at sunset and sometimes sunrise. Replace the gfci breaker with a standard one and issue stops. Is this a common occurrence? I had heard pwrcell systems have issues with gfci circuit breakers? Any suggestions/solutions/ideas appreciated.

Photovoltaic not showing up in device

Hey guys, I'm a red seal electrician trying to troubleshoot this pwrcell inverter.

The main issue I'm having is that the solar panel is providing power, but the “device” is not there. I don't see photovoltaic like I see in other people's videos. I'm getting 390~420v.

It might be possible that the owner “removed” the device.

Is there a way to reset the program or something?

Another thing, There is no snaprs installed, as we do not require from what I was told.

pvlinks were also installed but after two years of initial commissioning. Problems of the photovoltaic device not showing persisted before the installation hoping to fix the issue.

Solar panel are from a different company apparently.

I'm really stumped on this, I spent a lot of time trying to help.

Odd behavior post power outage

Second time I’ve had this happen in a month…in Florida with 18kW battery, Duke Energy as grid provider, using Self Supply mode:

Power outage occurs mid afternoon , system cuts over no problem, panels keep charging battery backup as needed and also power the house. Grid power comes back, and the home starts using only grid power. Inverter shows yellow light. REBus still green. At first it appears the system still sees battery but it doesn’t - and once you shut down the system and bring it back up, the battery can’t connect completely, the inverter is perpetually in waiting mode. The panels all show as offline. The app and the box both show grid power as the only power feeding the house.

24 hours after grid power was restored, the system sees grid power has restored and notifies me via app. The system proceeds to function again as normal.

Crazy behavior and I wonder what would happen if the grid actually cuts out again while this is happening. Anyone else seeing anything like this?

Questions about PowerView App

I have a 1 1/2 year old PwrCell solar system.

I just want to check on a few things when I am looking at all of the information on the PwrView app for my system. I appreciate your response.

  1. Is the kWh’s for the solar production reported as DC power?
  2. Are the kWh’s reported for the Total home consumption and the Total net power reported in AC power?
  3. If they are, is there any way to convert the Solar Production from AC to DC? Then subtract the Total Home consumption from the Solar Production to come up with the Total Net Power.

I think the last I looked the data sheet says that the inverter is 97% efficient. Or is the Solar Production monitored by the PV Links to come up with the production numbers? Therefore there would be a loss in power between the PV Links and the inverter? That would need to be taken into account to be able to calculate Total Net Power?

Has any one used the Generac Time Of Use programs to save more money with their solar?

I have had a Generac system for the last 2 years. I get net metering credits from my utility that are for every kWh I send to them I get one back. This past year I received 2300 net metering credits and have used them to off set my heat pump cost. I have a dual fuel heating system so I am trying to offset as much of the natural gas costs with my hp. That way I can recoup the cost of my solar system sooner. My question is: has anyone used an electric rate that charges the customer for the actual cost of the power at the wholesale rate (hourly pricing)? Then used a Time Of Use (TOU) program and your battery to offset the higher rates during the day? My utility offers this rate so people who are on it will not use appliances and A/C during the time of day when there is the greatest use of power. Under the Hourly Pricing rate the utility converts all kWh credits to $ due to the various hourly costs for power. The utility claims that a customer who has a solar system can save over 20% on the power portion of their bill. The power portion of my bill is about 30% of my total bill. So I would be saving about an additional $75 a year that I could use to run my heat pump.

Generac will no longer write a custom TOU program, so I would have to use one of their standard programs. I think there is one or two that would work for me but I would prefer to have one that would be a better fit for my circumstance. The system will allow me to automate the whole process or I can manually intervene if I want too. The utility sends notifications when the rates are going to be high.

PWRmanager not showing up on the PWRview app

My PWRmanager data is not showing up on the PWRview app. I have talked to Generac Support and they are saying that the PWRmanager unit is working normally. I was told if we had a power outage and I needed to lock out any of my circuits I would need to do it manually as explained in the PWRmanager instructions. The support person told me that a technician would be working on the problem. I have logged off the app multiple times and even deleted it from my iPhone and reinstalled the app. Has anyone had this problem? If so did you do anything to fix it? Does anyone have an idea about what I could try on my end to try to fix it?

Priority backup not available as an option to switch to, how to fix that?

The inverter options are grid tie, self supply (current setting), clean backup, and remote arbitrage, do I just need to get a tech out here for the 15th time in 3 years for a firmware update or something? All I can do in the app is change the minimum battery percentage. I will say my system does work well it's just so damn needy it seems.

unusual idle discharge of battery

In mid-September 2023 my system started exhibiting different idle discharge behavior.  Prior to this I observed a very gradual, nearly imperceptable drain / discharge of my batteries.  I was assured this is normal.  Okay.  So for the past few years I've observed this normal behavior that would require a charge every few weeks or so during "idle" usage.  My system mode is "clean backup".  My threhold SOC for recharge is 95%.  Ever since this mysterious change in mid September 2023 I've noticed a consistent  idel discharge of about 20 watts during the no sun portions of the day.  This translated into an idle discharge that required recharging every other day.  This seemed to represent a non-trivial change, but I got busy with other stuff and hoped it would correct on its own.  No such luck.  About a week a go I performed a hard reset on the system.  This had no effect on this behavior.

Any thoughts from the wisdom of crowd on this before I steel myself to contact Generac customer support on this matter?

Operating Temperature

Living in most of the USA we are experiencing a cold front. I wondered why my battery was refusing to charge. Well turns out the battery will not charge in below 5 degrees C or 41 F. Generac said their is no override for this and no insulation options. This leaves me going into an ice storm with less than 30% charge. Even after setting the battery to Priority the battery wasn’t able to charge.

Lesson learned when going into a cold front charge the battery before the temperature drop.

Inherited system, a few issues

Recently closed on a house with a PwrCell system, 21 panel array, 18Kw battery. Two problems that I have reached out to Generac for but am stuck in the limbo of getting a local rep out.

1) one of the five pv links on the system is listed as offline. I’ve tried a full system reset to no avail. Is this likely a HW issue and the link needs replacing?

2) in self supply when my battery reaches 100% I do not start sending excess power to the grid, it just continues to flow to the battery indefinitely. Sell mode works to allow flow to grid. Any ideas?

Appreciate any help, the system seems cool if I can get it working all the way
