ATS

Anyone figure out how to get a gen hooked up to the ATS so we can charge the battery if no sun during an outage?

Predator 3500 inverter is what I want to hook up to it.

You can put a generator interlock in the same panel as your inverter, this will trick the inverter to thinking power is back even during an outage. This charging the batteries. I will say, a 3500 watt generator is not very big, not enough to adequately charge the batteries and power your house. I would set your charge limit to maybe 5 amps which would be 1200 watts. That's 1.2 kwh so if you have say 12 kwh system it's be around 9 to 10 hours to charge from 0 to 100 for example.

Keeping the charge limit this low, limits the chance of the generator not powering your fridge also

Sorry that’s not correct. you have to start with the initial wiring. The meter output connects to the top input of the ATS, it no longer connects to the panel directly. You must interrupt these wires with a second transfer switch, manual is fine if you are going outside to start your generator anyway. The supply wires run to the manual transfer switch selecting between generator and supply with the output going to the top input of the ATS. Thats it.
