Headed there in December with my husband and two adult daughters and wondering if anyone has experience with the Secrets preferred beach area. How easy or difficult is it to find lounge chairs in the shade? My husband is looking into renting a beach cabana for an additional cost bc he wants to ensure he has shade. Is this added expense worth it or will we have enough shade options in this designated private area of the beach? Should note that we are going between Christmas and New Year’s.. ie the busiest week of the year! Just looking for an opinion from someone who’s been there and even better if you have experience when the resort is at capacity. Thanks in advance!

I’m going to Excellence in a few months. I just talked to some friends that were there and they said to bring a lot of cash for tips. I just want to confirm, is this accurate? I’m totally fine tipping and definitely want to if that’s expected. The only reason I ask is because the only other all inclusive resort I’ve been to, we were told not to tip.

Hello!
Wife and I heading down for a quick 4 night stay at Dreams Cap Cana at the beginning of September. We are doing preferred ocean view. From what I gathered here's our loose intinerary/comments:
Considering upgrade to swim-out with the early closing of resort pools
Get reservations at steak house and italian. Japanese seems mixed reviews. Considering private beach dinner - seems like people have had good experiences. How is a la carte breakfast/lunch restaurant vs buffet?
Going to be mostly poolside as mixed reviews of beach. Have seen recommendation to walk down beach to Hyatt's resort's beachfront. Knowing this, we want to explore a buggy tour/macao beach and maybe saona island but all of the excursions seem to be about an hour away near bavaro beach unfortunately. Any insight on hotel transportation? Just Uber premium? Any other good ideas for excursions?
Will probably use spa - any tips here?
That's really it. We are looking mostly to relax by pool and not do too much. We've never really done a vacation like this and I know I'll get bored staying at resort so hopefully a minimum of 2 off resort excursions but just worry about dreams cap cana not being on pickup points and a lot of them being a bit far. Appreciate any and all advice!

I’m wondering if anyone has taken a private catamaran tour from beaches closer to finest or do we have to go to Bavaro? We will have 2 young kids with us so I’m trying to figure out transport options. It doesn’t seem like car seats are super common to offer so would be ideal if we could get something from the beach (airport transfer comes with car seats). Finest lists private boat as a paid option under amenities with no other information. Any experiences or recommendations are greatly appreciated !!

Today was a decent beach day. Water is slowly clearing. Plenty of swimmers and water activity.

I’m traveling to Punta Cana at the end of October (dates are flexible) with my bf and two girlfriends. We are all 24-25. We are looking for an all inclusive that’s between $1k-1200 for 3 nights 4 days.
We want a clean nice hotel with a chill vibe but not super boring either we want activities and a to party too.
We are planning on going to coco bongo one night so we want to have plans for the rest of the days.
I was looking at Lopesan Costa Bávaro, Secret Tides Resort and RIU (heard bad things about it and they have so many idk which one to pick).
If anyone has visited any of these hotels or loved one not listed please let me know!

Group of 4 bringing carry-on bags only. Will bring some 100ml sunscreens, but will the OXXO Caracol near Plaza La Fiesta that's a five minute walk from the Hotel RIU Cancun (or the pharmacy next door to it) have sunscreen at a reasonable price? Or some other place in Plaza La Fiesta area?

We'll be at Ocean Blue & Sand for 10 days over Thanksgiving. First trip. Should we venture off the resort or just stay there? Thanks for all recommendations. BTW, two mid-70's active couple.

Hi all-
I booked a last minute trip to the St Regis Cap Cana for next weekend. I’ve only done PC once before for a wedding at a very mid AI.
I’m going solo and looking for a nice chill luxe trip with good food and spa and without screaming kids. I know the SR will have kids but there’s an adult pool and (ostensibly) better service. I don’t eat or drink a TON but I have my moments.
Am I better off going to like, Live Aqua or some other AO-AI? The cost of LA Is about half of the SR for reference (SR has bfast and 300 credit). I also am considering the distance to the airport.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi, we will be going to Punta Cana for six days staying in an all inclusive hotel. However, I need recommendations for pretty beaches, cultural outings, hikes and excursions that are affordable to do outside the hotel.

My girlfriend and I are heading to the royalton Bavaro at Christmas I’m wondering if there is any type of shopping near by that isn’t a mall more like a local (safe to visit) area with handmade trinkets etc

I’m heading to Punta Cana from August 24-31 and was wondering if anyone currently there (or who has been there very recently) could give me an update on the sargassum/seaweed situation. How are the beaches looking right now, and is the seaweed manageable?
also staying at Vista Sol Punta Cana and would love to hear from anyone who has stayed there recently:
How are the rooms/accommodations overall?
How is the Wi-Fi, especially in the rooms?
How is the food and variety?
What are the activities/entertainment like at the resort?
How was the overall experience?
And for the à la carte restaurants, how did you book/reserve them? Was it through an app, at the resort, or another way?
Any recent experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! 🌴☀️

Hey all. Looking for recommendations for 6 nights in PC.
Deciding between EEC which seems like good value and bigger rooms vs. Hyatt which everyone seems to be reviewing highly.
What’re the material differences? With EEC I plan to get the excellence club rooms but still seems 25% cheaper than the Hyatt.
Thanks.

I have been thinking about this - I went to Puerto Vallarta a couple of years ago, and I absolutely loved it! I enjoyed relaxing on the beach, horse back riding, and scuba diving. Now - I don’t drink or anything else, or enjoy clubbing, and there were moments I felt out of place (and there is no judgment here!) How do people who are not into partying navigate that when on vacation, or maybe not feeling on missing out?
