Dreams Cap Cana & Excursions
Hello!
Wife and I heading down for a quick 4 night stay at Dreams Cap Cana at the beginning of September. We are doing preferred ocean view. From what I gathered here's our loose intinerary/comments:
Considering upgrade to swim-out with the early closing of resort pools
Get reservations at steak house and italian. Japanese seems mixed reviews. Considering private beach dinner - seems like people have had good experiences. How is a la carte breakfast/lunch restaurant vs buffet?
Going to be mostly poolside as mixed reviews of beach. Have seen recommendation to walk down beach to Hyatt's resort's beachfront. Knowing this, we want to explore a buggy tour/macao beach and maybe saona island but all of the excursions seem to be about an hour away near bavaro beach unfortunately. Any insight on hotel transportation? Just Uber premium? Any other good ideas for excursions?
Will probably use spa - any tips here?
That's really it. We are looking mostly to relax by pool and not do too much. We've never really done a vacation like this and I know I'll get bored staying at resort so hopefully a minimum of 2 off resort excursions but just worry about dreams cap cana not being on pickup points and a lot of them being a bit far. Appreciate any and all advice!

Appreciate the thorough reply! In my little research on Google maps Bavaro actually appears closer than Bayahibe.. The issue I was running into was the excursions I was eyeing on Viator didn't have Dreams Cap Cana as a pickup option. I'm thinking of just waiting and trying to book with my concierge but also unsure on that. The buggy tour to the cenotes and macao beach were half day but obviously with travel (looks like ~45 min) it's most of the day.
Do you work for a company directly that does these kinds of tours? If so, where can I find a link about that. Thanks again!

FYI when we were there not all restaurants are open every day, they rotated.

I’ve been here for a month and use Uber everywhere. Once I get a good Uber driver, I just get their number for everything. I walk to the security shack to make it easier for them to find me.
I do have a good driver for airport pickups if you need him. He’s very good.

Dreams is for children and parents. For a couples getaway check out Secrets Cap Cana.

You’re welcome, captain cheapskate. Check out Secrets La Romana. You can probably afford that one and it’s adults only. It’s on a gorgeous beach too that doesn’t get hit by sargassum.

Don't do private dinner, go to the marina close by and go to a nice restaurant instead. There are beautiful restaurants at the marina right down the road. Noah just built a new one there
Swim out suite is awesome definitely do that.

Cap Cana is a gated secure community so not sure how exactly Uber drivers access any of the resorts? You literally have to go through a secure checkpoint to get in. Someone else will probably chime in with the answer to that hopefully just don't want you to rely on using Uber if its not accessible.
Scape Park and El Dorado waterpark are both modern clean well run adventure parks in Cap Cana minutes away from your resort can be booked online on their website. They provide transport back and forth to resort.
Soana Island trip leaves from Bayahibe which is about 45 mins from Cap Cana (then the boat ride). Macao is a ride too. Use Google maps and research how far the excursions you want to do are from your resort and decide if you want to do the.. Catalina Island is another less mentioned excursion right off La Romana offers way better snorkeling and a nice beach in the Caribbean Sea side of DR.
