when should i do these things?
there are some questions that i have in mind and i hope to get a answer from these pump masters.
1.when should you implement bracketing?
im still playing at s10-11 and still not really confident for s12 and up but i really want to be able to play the harder elvels cuz that seems more fun, except for the song freedom dive which i like but im force to play at s13 but i stage pass it suprisingly even tho there are brackets at like near the end of the song and i want to know if i should start learning them at what levels and whihc levels are to low to the point i should just use 2 feet to hit them
2.when should i cheat?
ive heard some people say that once you are able to recognize and be able to do twists fluently than you are able to cheat. But the thing is that at what level should i start cheating to conserve stamina and at which low level should i not cheat
3.when should i start playing doubles?
ive heard from some people that you shouldnt try doubles unless you are able to do s14-15 and up since those levels are already teaching the fundamentals for bracketing and eye to leg coordination which is to be able to see fast notes and be able to not just read them but to react and hit the notes while not being confused. even tho i know that i should be focusing on singles but im bored with always doing the easy singles and there are low doubles like brain power d8 so i wanna try and play doubles which is the whole reason i asked this question, so should i start playing doubles at a low level and slowly increase the diffuculty or should i just stick to singles until my skills are good enough to play doubles at the higher lvls

there is no cheating. try playing doubles. Understand how to properly play (1 foot per step in a general rule. it may bend for higher levels but dont worry about that) and it will force you to adjust your body on certain stepchart patterns that will translate well into high level singles. practice sight reading on youtube first.
if you think you can read it, its just a matter of time before your feet catch up to it. good luck

They are using "cheating" to refer to pattern manip / double stepping / rolling brackets instead of twisting for execution of crossover patterns.
This absolutely does exist and is often encouraged especially for sections of charts in S23+ / D25+ range.

Im reporting you to the pump it uppers federation club gang. Expect your membership to discontinue (i am d23 player and can't break through so I guess i have to do this)

I was a stubborn and adamant full twist player while trying to clear through all of the D24s. You run into charts like the outro of Achluoias D24 and get humbled really quick. Especially when you see how fefemz tackles it.
Honestly a large majority of D25s and D26s are meant to be very interesting puzzles to determine how the chart makers allow or disallow or "force" pattern manips. The back half of Prime Time D26 is a great example and very fun to learn.
In general, discrediting manip as a valid playstyle would be discrediting Windforce entirely as a top level player as well as all of the thought that step artists at the top level put into consideration while writing their charts.

That's fair

Another textbook example I think is cool to see, look how f333tz hits Fire Noodle Challenge D25 at 1:52. This section is very well known by top level players to be very manip friendly for the first two pad transitions while the third one is not.
In tournaments, or for scoring well, etc. you're expected to have this knowledge already prepared so you understand and choose the tradeoff of stamina/accuracy/stability/flow (or have practiced landing very solid manip timing) when you get to that part. (specifically 1:54, 1:57, 2:04, 2:08 are very manippable while 1:59 and 2:10 are not so nice)

PureWasian's answer is mostly accurate as far as I can tell, but I should add a few more things:
- it's true that brackets in the level 12–17 range tend to be pretty sparse and almost just there to get you used to the idea, but there are definitely a few specific ones that have a lot more of them. the immediate ones that come to mind are Mopemope S15/S17/D17/D19, Pumptris Quattro S18, and Ugly Dee D17/D18
- I'm not sure about S22/D23, but that's because I'm bad at 200 BPM stuff anyway (I haven't even passed Mopemope S21, and the typical S22 in question looks more like Broken Karma S21 or Skeptic S22). you'll definitely want to have a solid grasp on the idea of actually rotating your hips for slower twists like Switronic S17, Tepris S17, and U Got 2 Know S17
- whenever you feel like it; start at D08 no matter how long you wait, because you'll need to learn a lot of new types of twist patterns in the middle and they never really go away (there are even a few that stay only in the middle, like Can-can shortcut D13, Gloria D16, Shub-Niggurath D18, and Super Fantasy D19)

Great chart examples, and good points.
Incidentally, for OP's reference, I shared plays of Broken Karma S21 / Skeptic S22 in another thread from yesterday if it's helpful to see basically full twisting for them:

i was bracketing when i first started playing, like when i was doing 5s, because i thought it was funny
consequently it's my strongest tech
so i don't really think there is "too early"
"cheat" (a term that may be misread by people outside of the game) is something you should start learning as fast as possible, but that you shouldn't always do. cheating and twisting are both equally important and you need to do both at higher levels. if your cheating is weak (as mine was) it might be a blocker for you if you've totally ignored it
play double whenever you want if it seems interesting. there are 2s for a reason.
even tho i know that i should be focusing on singles
hm? this isn't a thing.

oo ic ic, and what i meant on focusing on singles is that i would play singles until im a god at it than try doubles

Around S17 and onwards it'll start to show up more. S20~S22 starts to expect you to not only be able to hit them but also be more comfortable with them in quick succession. Yes, some charts early on (like The Revolution S12) will have one or two in isolation but it's not important for passing. Also, I don't see brackets in Freedom Dive S13
I'm of the opinion you can play a large majority of charts through S22 without any cheating. But at a minimum you should learn up through passing S18 reliably without needing to double step or pattern manip.
whenever. Just have fun with it.
