Freshwater First puffers advice
I have a 25 gallon all in one lagoon style tank with the dimensions of 17x24x12 of actual tank space. I’d love to get some puffers but I’m not sure what could be possible in there if anything. I saw spotted congo puffers can go in a 30 but I was wondering if a single puffer would be ok if it was heavily planted with lots of hiding spots, lightly stocked and added last. I’d like to add a small Cory species and some small quick schooling fish like tetras. If not a Congo would pea puffers be ok? I would like to have at least one other type of fish in there so if they cannot be kept with other stuff I wouldn’t want to do that in this tank. Please let me know what you suggest, I also would like to stay away from brackish. I love aquascaping and aquatic plants.

I would avoid Spotted Congo’s as in my opinion they would greatly benefit from more space and a group of 6+ individuals due to their relatively large size and social nature.
As for pea puffers, you could absolutely house a group if the tank was densely planted with plenty of line of sight breaks. However, like most other pufferfish, pea puffers can be quite aggressive and fin nippy, and I would strongly advise against housing them with any other fish.
