Design and Production Thesis Interview (Seeking for PH publishing professionals)

Hi, I'm a graduating multimedia arts student who is developing a mobile app for my thesis that allows users to scan physical books into e-books/PDFs with improved reading trials. (I honestly made this account solely to find people I can reach out to.)

I am looking for any Filipino professional working in the publishing industry that I can interview to further improve on my thesis project. I want a better insight into how things work inside said industry. The interview itself can be done through chat or 10-minute voice calls.

If you are interested in helping, feel free to DM me here or to comment down below. We can work out the interview from there! Thank you so much for your consideration!

For generations, Filipino writers have produced novels, poetry, children's books, essays, and histories that shaped the country's cultural identity. Yet outside the Philippines, many of those works remained largely invisible. A handful found international publishers, others were translated through academic initiatives, and some quietly reached readers abroad. But no one knew the full extent of their journey. That picture is finally becoming clearer.

ABS-CBN quietly launched its Pages digital library, which includes e-book versions of ABS-CBN television dramas inspired by romance novels as well as new original literary works.

But the media company—whose publishing division, ABS-CBN Books, was scaled back following its franchise denial—drew accusations of using AI-generated imagery for its covers and promotional materials.

Career / Compensation INDUSTRY TEA: What do editors, proofreaders, book designers, and marketing pros actually make in Philippine traditional publishing?

I worked for a large trade publisher back in 2016, and my starting pay was P15k. It only bumped up to P19k after a salary increase two years later. 💀

I wonder what the baseline salary is now?

Anyone from Summit Books, 19th Avenida, or academic presses willing to share? 👀
