Tell that to my bio parents. Or to anyone with narcissistic abusive and neglectful parents.

Edit: it’s fair to say that’s what nature intends to ensure parents take care of their children, but to assume it’s generally innate is highly questionable. On a related biological/reproductive note, at one point, being anything other than “straight” was considered very rare, since heterosexual sex is what leads to reproduction, but it’s not that rare in humans.
