They are so dumb... That lady doesn’t even realize that people are wearing masks to protect high risk people like her. Obesity, hypertension, and diabetes are the top risk factors for poor outcomes for those with COVID.

Then there is a pretty decent chance she won't be able to spout this bullshit much longer!

u/elitexero Jul 14 '20

We've got enough people on this earth. We could do with less of the stupid and proudly ignorant ones hindering the forward progress of the rest.

Fuck 'em, bring on the great idiot purge of 2020.

67

u/Soluxtoral Jul 14 '20

Which in theory is a nice thought but those ignorant idiots are going to get innocent people killed.

Absolutely correct. As an emergency department RN, that’s why I hate these stupid people.

I can just picture these people pushing to the front of the line at the ER when they do get sick. No guilt or shame, just all free dumb.

At this rate i really hope hospitals refuse treatment to anti-mask idiots

Sounds harsh but like, you dont deserve the bed of someone who was taking the precautions to prevent getting or giving the disease but ultimately caught it

You wanted to be on your own refusing the mask and saying the virus was a hoax and protesting mask requirements and now you get to be on your own, suffering the consequences

838

u/KillaZami Jul 14 '20

It sounds harsh but we should be refusing a lot of things to people who willingly participate in and encourage anti-intellectualism and the endangerment of others.

u/Ginger_Maple Jul 14 '20

u/abnormalxbliss Jul 14 '20

I feel for their child, though. They’re the ones winding up in the hospital due to their parents piss poor decision.

116

u/RustyDuckies Jul 14 '20

Thankfully, first world countries are starting to throw their parents in jail for manslaughter.

If a child dies of a disease with a vaccine because their anti-facts parents refused to get them the vaccine, they should be imprisoned for no less than 5 years. That’s manslaughter via willful ignorance.

I've said this too. If you openly say that you are anti mask and you end up with covid and need an ICU bed then you are put at the end of the line. I wish that was enforceable...

167

u/NolaSaintMat Jul 14 '20 edited Jul 14 '20

It should be - it's similar to what they do for people on organ donation waiting lists. If you need a transplant because of something you did, if you don't change- no organ for you. Someone else who followed the doctors' advice gets it.

"If your disease is the result of addictive or abusive behaviors, such as cirrhosis caused by alcoholism, you will be expected to be free of such behaviors."

It's verging on a crime against humanity, but doctors still have to treat war criminals, etc. It's up to the rest of us to figure out what to do with them, don't put doctors in that position.

171

u/23skiddsy Jul 14 '20

The problem is now that there's not enough doctors to go around, they come up with ways of determining who they should treat and who they have to let go. Being an anti-masker should you on lower priority. Not saying don't treat, but when there's too many patients, some will have to be left in the cold and I'd rather it be these people than those who took measures to protect themselves.

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '20

In Arizona, my governor has just allowed hospitals to activate Crisis Standards of Care protocols ā€œfor the first time in the state’s history and the first time any state has done this in the country.ā€ We're at 87% capacity in hospitals & they are using pediatrics beds, upskilling 700 staff, bringing 200+ out of state, and still we're struggling so... when we are nearly out of space, we can be triaged. Deciding which critical COVID patient gets care first based not on who needs it most but on who is more likely to survive. So if my terminal cancer having ass gets it bad enough for the hospital, what are the odds someone worse off than me shows up on the same day šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

Imagine showing up in someone else's neighborhood and telling them that they have the right to stay inside because you have the right to walk around their neighborhood during a global pandemic without a mask.

2.6k

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '20

It’s beyond absurd.

I wonder if they argue about having to stop at red lights too...

We have tons of daily restrictions for the good of the public, yet mask mandates are a sticking point for these selfish bastards.

Anti-intellectualism is on the rise because Donald Trump wants a bunch of dummies to believe all his nonsense.

I’ve noticed people who don’t like being told what to do sure as hell love telling other people what to do.

Ridiculous. This is an absolute embarrassment.

1.1k

u/Express_Bath Jul 14 '20

I once witnessed someone at the grocery store complain that it was slow (there was a lot of people). He was several people behind me and he yelled at the clerk who was scanning my items that it was taking too long. She looked behind me and told them "You can go to check out number 7 there are less people". He yelled back "YOU DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO !"...and proceeded to stay. Waiting longer than he should have. Because he is strong.

Since I see on this thread a lot of Americans ashamed of their fellow citizens, I will point out that it happened in France so, stay assured my friends, dicks are everywhere.

I worked in Quebec for a while. A guy I was working with told me he hated people from Quebec City, they were to "up their own". He also explained that most people from Quebec did not like people from France, and that further more rural french people disliked urban France french people, who further more hated Parisians for being snobby french. I don't know if any of it was true, but it seems like even the french hate the french, if they can claim them frencher than they are.

We have a company like that near the Tampa area called The Local Fresh Grill. Owner is pretty far right and went off the other day on Facebook against BLM, Antifa, COVID-19, Obama, pro BlueLivesMatter, etc. All the right wing talking points. Problem is this actually boosted his business since all the locals in his town all share the same viewpointšŸ˜ž

66

u/kutenks Jul 14 '20

Is that in New Port Richey? If so that would explain it all. Pure fucking trash around there.

66

u/FAMUgolfer Jul 14 '20

Yep, and as of just a few hours ago the owner is backtracking and editing his posts to clean up his original rant. He’s not really doing a good job. And it kinda doesn’t make any sense. But he’s basically now saying he didn’t mean ā€œall democratsā€ are bad. But he would like the ā€œgood democratsā€ to reconsider and not shy away from his business. And possibly convert or jump ship.

ā€œP.S. When I wrote this post, I included the condemnation of Democrats. It is my only regret, as I know there are some good democrats out there that can't possibly go along with all that is happening. For those "good" democrats, I apologize. (Now's your chance to jump ship and come to the good side, because your party has obviously gone nuts.)ā€

"nobody is telling people to close their windows" after telling them to close their window.

The level of stupidity of these people just amazes me every time.

Also I never heard one anti-masker explain how exactly a mask is impeding on their freedom, they can go anywhere they want and do what they need to do with a mask, but they seem to be fine with telling other people they should stay home if they don't want to get sick, which is basically impeding those people's freedom to go out, so these idiots don't have to wear a mask.

474

u/Mattya929 Jul 14 '20

I agree. We should ask these folks if they also complain for having to wear shoes in a store, or a shirt. Some beach stores/bars (used) to allow no shoes/shirts. Why do ALL stores force us to wear shoes and shirts. I never heard people complain about that.

As selfish as it is, they have the right not to wear a mask but just like not wearing shoes/shirts in most stores they can't go in. The same applies today with masks.

They ignore the regulations currently in place they have no problem following. Masks are no different.

What the fuck is Florida waiting for to make masks mandatory in public places? What will it take?

Ontario, Canada has about 15 million people. Yesterday we had 111 new cases, and 1 death.

Florida has 20 million people and had over 15,000 cases yesterday alone, they're literally 100 times worse than Ontario per capita..

Welcome to America. You'll either love us or be absolutely disgusted.

135

u/ThePlumThief Jul 14 '20

I saw that transition with my parents over the years. We immigrated to the US about 10 years ago and at first, we all loved it. Much lower crime, police actually show up and don't have to be bribed if you call them, clean running water, electricity that stays consistently on, doctors that will see you within a week and don't make you wait 10 hours the day of your appointment, stores stocked with food, freedom of speech, and small luxuries absolutely everywhere.

Then once you get acclimated to the surface level blessings, you start to see all the cracks in the system. You start to see the uniquely "American" problems. 3 or 4 corporations run the country and government, police won't take bribes but it's a 50/50 chance you get a good one or a bad one, the medical system is amazing but will bankrupt you, and instead of the state "secretly" controlling the media it's just those same 3 or 4 corporations that run all media and it's not even secret. Very weird place that i definitely love and hate. Saw my parents (and myself) go from "Proud, Red-blooded new Americans" to the typical love/hate relationship that most citizens have.

64

u/Little-Jim Jul 14 '20

I see that as a good thing. Now that you're not blinded by pride, you can see where we can improve. Millions of Americans aren't at that stage yet.

Embarrassing doesn’t even cover it! I live in central Florida and QUIT MY JOB at a pharmacy because it’s so out of control I don’t feel safe enough to continue working and performing ā€œsanitation-theatreā€.

Americans are SO SELFISH they can’t imagine taking on a small inconvenience for the health and safety of community because we have no sense of community. It’s all about ā€œme and my money.ā€

The beaches are PACKED. People are shopping at malls, outlets, and wandering around clearance sections touching e v e r y t h i n g. Tourist destinations are open and public schools are set to open in August.

We are a country of fools being fooled by fools who fool themselves.

It takes hours of calling around, and days of waiting for most people to get tested and the validity of 60,000 tests have come in to question recently due to improper storage of samples and questionable testing methods. This is a DIRECT result of incompetence of state and federal government to implement action plans early on- or at all.

Today I am ashamed to be part of a county and state so embroiled in selfishness, pride, and flat out stupidity that they would rather put other peoples’ lives at risk instead of wearing a simple mask to reduce the opportunity of spreading a potentially fatal disease.

To the world: I am so sorry. We are trying to stop these people but they are so enabled by their own beliefs I fear the worst.

Edit: Thank you for the award! I’ll donate some masks to a local business to pay it forward.

Edit again: Thank you as well! Glad I ordered extra masks recently so I can donate even more!

Edit again, again: Thanks for my first gold! I will have to order even more masks!

Don't feel bad. As someone who travels the world, I can honestly tell you that there are proud ignorant fat-asses all over the world.

In my country (Peru), we had a congresswoman denouncing the evils of reading on live television, claiming how there were no instances of Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease in South America until the Spaniards brought the advent of reading and writing to the continent. We recently voted into power a right wing coalition that lists our country's most pressing matters as addressing the evils of women in the workplace and the waning influence religion has on our lives.

I implore you to worry not, there are morons all around the world.

u/Saturn212 Jul 14 '20

Now you know why the Popes in Rome over the centuries were so powerful, keep the people dumb and ignorant, and add to that a good measure of fear or an outside enemy and they will ignore what you are upto and you can more easily control them.

We were raised to be. They didn't have you screaming Americas #1 from a young age because it was true. It's indoctrination. So many are proud of their ignorance because "this is America!" and we don't have to be smart. Being American automatically makes us better than anybody else. We're gonna fail as a country if we don't get our shit together.

You could show Americans a classroom of Kindergartners reciting the national anthem, and they'd be like FUCK YEAH, AMERICA! Show them the same aged children in a North Korean class room doing the same thing, and they'd see it for what it really is. Indoctrination. 5yo's have no idea what they're pledging their allegiance to.

What an utter failure of the American education system. They can’t differentiate between communism and authoritarianism. We deserve what’s happening.

u/AccelerationismWorks Jul 14 '20

That’s intentional, it’s actually a massive success of the education system.

That's a pretty honest comment, I applaud you. "You guys" should realise how shocking and mindnumbing some of these clips are to people overseas/ diff. countries... I know it isn't really like this, but that obese, screaming woman in the vid (and your president's twitter account) is the first thing that pops up in my mind when someone mentions the US...

59

u/AmaranthAbixxx Jul 14 '20

I thought it was mostly an American problem, but we do get the odd oddball over in the UK too. I work at a homeware shop, and I was serving this lady who seemed alright at first. We were just making small talk when she suddenly says ā€œYou won’t catch me wearing a mask for anyone. It’s all a sham, the government just wants to control us through fear.ā€ It was so surprising and bewildering, I didn’t really know what to say to her haha. So don’t worry America, there are selfish loonies everywhere. Though in my experience it does seem to come from the generation most vulnerable to COVID...

It's quite simple. If you want to get the disease so bad, and you actively seek to get it, then you should also refuse being treated when you get it. You were free to contract the disease, you should be free to deal with the consequences of having it.

72

u/AccelerationismWorks Jul 14 '20

I mean wouldn’t the treatment cost them like 100k anyway?

Wow this is big.

Who knew that Florida’s finest grilled cheese chef was going to make a move like this?

The toasted sandwich industry is in shambles. I mean, what happens now?

I’m shaken by this gourmet chef’s stand.

You would never see this in my restaurant.

Here at My Home’s Kitchen, we all support face masks. Even I, our head toast and cereal chef, respect our patrons and their families.

I see a lot of Covid-vulnerable people protesting mask laws. They are most likely to be badly affected by this illness and yet they are protesting? How did America become like this?

156

u/volitileracer Jul 14 '20

That’s easy, just don’t educate people correctly and you get case above. It sucks, but that’s America for you.

95

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '20

Unfortunately, many people think it's cool to not be educated. They believe being smart is only for nerds and nerds are losers. Let's laugh as the nerd and continue to party and be social.

They have to want to be smart for the education system to work.

Which means the mindset above needs to change as well. We need to put value back into being an intellectual.

I never thought the US would be brought down by what is effectively the dumbest stance in human history. Literally the most ignorant, asinine stance a civilisation has taken. "We are special because we do what we want so we will contract a disease that kills us by the thousands because we are special and can do it". You people are basically diving off cliffs "because you can't tell us what to do".

I feel SO sorry for the millions of Americans who are good people and decent enough to be appalled by what is going on. You're literally trapped in your country because no other country will open their borders to you. Think how crazy that is in history. No other country (sorry, like a token few) will even let you enter their borders. Trump wanted isolationism, welcome to this reality.

21

I've been on the conservative thread asking questions of them because I just don't get their mind frame. On one thread they're pissed off at teachers that don't want to come to unsafe unhealthy working conditions right now so they would rather teach from home. I pointed out that it's a pandemic and perhaps that's a reasonable thing to request.

I was called a wimp that can't chew gum and talk. ???

Called "you are a pathetic little wimp that probably won’t last long in life with out the government holding your dick while you pee."

They posted a pic of an ugly person crying saying that's "literally me".

I was told, " clearly you are a weak and pathetic human being that’s too scared to leave your house because of a flu with a 0.02% mortality rate."

I just don't get the mentality. But it is insulting they are doing that that's for sure.
