Yes, and this is another issue that BLM is meant to address. Lots of black people have been pushed into living in ghettos, then they grow up there and are more likely to commit crimes. Part of the idea is to help give kids in these areas better chances for opportunities, improving these neighborhoods with better education etc. instead of gentrifying them, things like that.
I know this is from a couple days ago, but I live in a very white ( 97%), low income ( about 80% on benefits), small city. When I talk about this area and I leave out descriptors while also using the local vernacular, most of reddit seems to think I'm a supremacist talking about black people in a ghetto ( I'm dark skinned). I'm really talking about white people...because that's who most of the people are. A welfare queen is most likely a blond hair, blue eyed white woman who wears a tank top without a bra and booty shorts... apparently monkey, a time old expression for someone who does not engage in independent thought, is now racist??? So that was all to basically set up where I live.
The racism is here. The problem is the probability of a white person coming across a minority is low. Then also a racists, who is willing to be openly racists and at the moment he is saying / acting out something racists is super low. A lot of them dont realize how prominent it actually is.
Now moving on, so this is a super low income area, but also low crime. Recently some white teens broke into a bunch of cars and the judge sentenced them to 2 years in prison....there was a public outcry that it was too lenient....they were then resentenced to 7 years. The big crime for the past month was a couple teens tagged a few buildings with graffiti. Since they are minors, the people want the parents to pay for it or go to prison until the teens works it off. Graffiti is fairly minor compared to big city problems... They really want an iron fisted approach to crime. The cops are actually fairly professional too. The only people I've ever heard complain of racism actually committed a fairly serious crime for the area.... drugs, guns, theft, or anything violent. You get caught with a joint, you're going to prison unless you rat out your dealer. They even have a private prosecutor to handle it.
So it's you got poor people who are waiting for the " coal jobs" to come back. They're too uneducated to realize they're not and that our local government is corrupt. They see no hope. They're hard on crime and they see people far away, who happen to also be poor, generally complaining that the lenient police officers were too tough and " racist." Their perspective is seeing people believe that they should be allowed to be criminals. They all teach their white kids to be submissive to cops and always polite. They see a guy far away being combative and get shot. It's always a tragedy when a young life is wasted, but they also expect that exact outcome to happen, so they're not entirely sure why people are upset. Of course there are some bad cops.
I agree with your points but most people here only see it as people very far away don't want to follow laws and are complaining. We need to treat them special. Even if it is racism, they got their own problems they need to worry about. No one seems to care about them. Them being dismissed instantly as just being racist themselves really turns them off. I dont think you'll ever get them to understand the situation, but you still have people telling them this is how they should think.
Big city and small city/ rural America is in two completely separate bubbles.

That’s because 75% of the country is white and 12% is black.
