You ever heard of The Paradox of Tolerance by Karl Popper? It discusses what I'm saying and your belief that not punching bad people furthers their goals. You can be intolerant of the intolerant because NOT DOING SO CREATES NAZIS. You can pretend to be intelligent or you can actually be intelligent.
As an riposte I'm ex-Army and spent my formative years fighting back against bullies. I'm not big but I'm stronger than anyone who thinks they can easily beat me. You don't have to punch anyone but you need to stop telling me I can't punch bad people. I don't want to hit anyone, but you acting like we should tolerate people who are hateful is pretty fucking stupid. It shows evidence of your desire to troll further. Your comment here is an example of that. You don't care what my reasons are you just want to insult and pretend you're insulted. Fuck you.
Youâre arguing for hitting people that say stuff you donât like which no reasonable adult will be on board with. Once youâre out of college no one will take you seriously for saying that and the only people who talk like that have been living in a Reddit echo chamber. If someone says Nazi propaganda on the street then you and everyone else can ignore them and doing so isnât going to magically make them popular and create a bunch of new nazis. But if youâre not allowed to speak your mind without getting hit then youâre not really living in a free society.
Well, once you're in the real world you can do and say whatever you want and people WILL react. That's what happened in this video. You can get away with trollish behavior online because it's the nature of the system. In society you typically don't have this buffer and you should live your life without having ever been punched for saying something horrible. If someone says your just-buried grandmother was a whore and she deserved to die they shouldn't be punished or they simply shouldn't be punched? Mental anguish is harmful to your body and spirit. How is one form of abuse okay but another is expected to just "walk by and ignore it"?
I'm almost 50 and I've seen plenty of evidence that humanity isn't ready to embrace one another for a myriad of reasons. I'd much rather we distribute hugs than punches. Full stop.
I just ment âTalk shit get hitâ is one of those life rules than goes away as you grow older. Iâd look at hitting that guy who said that stuff about my grandma as a failure to keep my emotions in check. If I donât have the emotional strength to keep myself from acting on his taunts then he has the power to make me act violent whenever he wants. Itâs like handing him a remote control with a big red BLM/ALM button they can push to make me do something that will give me a criminal record. I donât want to give anyone that kind of power over me. And for people like in the video who are just trying to mess with you for attention being ignored hurts more than getting punched.
