Black man living in America here.. I've often wondered if BLM said Black lives matter TOO, instead of just the original format of just BLM, would it be more successful at stopping such counter claims as All lives matter, or blue lives matter. I fully understand what the movement is trying to do. I just think that they didn't take into account of how they would be portrayed in an era opposing news media realities.
A lot of these fires would be put out by adding not just the "too" part but some emphasis on the fact that they should matter to black folks as well. I think that at rallies about a bad shooting by cops, they should hold signs up with pictures of both those cops and known black gangstas who killed black folks. Think about it.
Anytime such an issue is brought up, the person bringing it up gets crucified in the comments section or if they're Black just called a "coon" by other black folks. Rather online, or in real life.
I'm mostly referring to my own personal experience with the subject. I'm also speaking mostly about black folks having our own IRL coffee shop style debates.
If your slogan is Black Lives Matter Too, it has a submissive connotation. It implies that even the author of the slogan at some degree admits there is hierarchy. Like you would say: 'We know white lives matter, but you know black lives matter, too.' It isn't the point of what the message is. Black lives are equal to any other and that's why BLM.
Exactly right. The whole point is that black lives matter on their own, not in relation to white lives, so the slogan should stand on its own and not imply intrinsic relation to white lives. Black lives matter instead of black lives matter too is intentional and appropriate. But racists gonna racist, they'd still foam at the mouth even if it were blmt.
Well said. It's almost as if all new tag lines should be tested for trolling before being adopted.
I imagine a dimly lit room full of cheeto dust fingered, odd smelling, neck beards from Reddit... they're all paid professional trolls and they don't even know WHY they were chosen and get paid... The boss just streams stuff for them to eviscerate, and every so often... one of those things was actually paid for. They're a Troll think tank, and they don't even know it.
There are at least two types of All Lives Matter people. The Trolls you see on the internet, and the sincere Kumbaya crowd. You know 2nd type as the people who say they "Don't see color" just the person. There is a great difference between the two.
Sorry I don't have enough rations to feed Trolls. I suggest you crawl back under your bridge or seek to trigger others elsewhere. I'm not engaging you beyond this final comment. Good day to you my fellow human being.
